If its not quiet enough, try earplugs.... Personally i would try both helmets and see which one is more comfortable... Im looking towards an RX-7...

Both are equally good helmets... I think it will come down to price and personal preference... Ive heard nothing but great things about Arai, they crash extremely well, and at the end of the day, thats all that counts...

I looked at both these helmets about a month ago.Tested a friend's arai and much quieter than my Shoei xr1000 and it vents really good. Not tested the x-spirit , but I heard that they are very noisy. In my opinion the Arai would be the way to go..not much difference in price. The only thing I did not like about the arai, is that it has limited graphics available. You should PM Sparky Bills, for he sells both these helmets and think had them both too..and he might be able to do you good deal ...

Hey Steve the word used to be when it comes to fit that you either have an Arai face of a Shoei face..? And you fit both of them..! Does this mean the manufacturers have changed their fit or you have something wrong with your face..?

I'll agree 100% with that comment. If one fits you really well then the other won't. I went through this same process and I found that the Arai presses on my head in three distinct places whereas the Shoei fits like a glove. I know of others who have said the same thing (though sometimes the other way round). Also generally the racier the helmet (and these are two of the raciest), the more ducts stick out into the airflow increasing the noise level inside.

My advice - try them both on again and buy the one that fits you best. If you find it noisy then buy some earplugs.

Weird! I did this same test (XR1000 vs RX7) and I couldn't tell much difference between them. What did you notice most?

Well, wen trying the helmet out I mostly concentrated on the ventelation of the helmet because my XR1000 just does not vent well enough for me.But before I could even get to that I noticed that it doesnt have the same wind noise as my Shoei. I think it has much to do with the chin spoiler, not sure. When it came to the venting, I noticed that after an Hours ride I did not get hot once and the vents in the visor is really good to put cool air on the forehead.

What I also liked was the fact that you can change the inner liner to better fit your face.

Paulus the XR100 XSPIRIT and ARAI RX7 all fit comfortably and like a glove on me the helmets that dont work for me are SHARK, SOUMY, AGV, and HJC the latters sizings seam to be out of kilter with the real world as I fit a medium in both Shoei and Arai yet a HJC medium fits like an extra large

I had an x-spirit. I thought it was great. good aerodynamics and wasn't noisy for me especially when i had earplugs on. I have crashed tested it and really good too.

As far as noise goes HJC is much noisier even though I'm already using the top of the range carbon fibre helmet. Although in saying this the price reflects the quality.

one thing to note. the x-spirit does fog up in winter so you'll need to get anti-fog stuff for the visor. Don't know how the Arai fares in that department.

i've got an RX7RR3. it's quite noisy for anything over a 50k ride, graphics are cool though. venting is great, although i lost one of the visor vents, but i have tinted across the top of the visor with auto tint anyway as i ride into the sun on the way to work and sometimes on the way home, but do lots of night riding in between. they did allow water in when raining hard though, so no great loss. no buffeting to speak of. nice and compact and light.

Hi
I like my Arai but found it needed a breath deflector so the visor didn't fog up. Otherwise very happy with it, especially the ventilation.
The current graphics are rather limited, some of the old ones look better.Actually I don't remember what my design is called. Has Drudi Performance on the side. May be someone can tell me what it is if that is not the name.
Cheers
