Cheers, i haven't attended for a couple of years so i might just get back into it again this time.

.produKt, it's a charity ride with (if memory serves) proceeds from donation/raffal tickets, badge sales, whatever going to the St Johns Ambulance service.
Last time i went the was quite a large convoy of bikes.

Goto leeston, a loveley place i used to live and help out a good cause -_-
me thinks we should change the cruise from akaroa to going to leeston, or both! ^^

Cant believe most of you dont know about it?? Was always a pretty good turnout, like some of the other fundraising runs. I guess they don't them so much any more? Xmas toy run, easter run?

Not likely. But then you never know, we might go past some cop who manages to pick you out of the maybe 60 to 80 (i don't know how many, usually more than 30 i guess) bikes and pull you over to check.

You know if you are in an accident with no REG or WOF you'll not be covered by insurance and get a ticket even if not your fault. :nono: Then again you proberbly have no insurance either i guess.

If you want to ride in a large group then come along, you'll love it.
This photo is from the 2005 Cholmondeley Childerens Home Charity Run (next will be held on May 6th this year), just to give you an idea.

These charity rides are for everyone. The Ambulance Run and Cholmondeley Run are not arranged by Kiwibiker so that has no berring on who can or can-not attend them.

The adverts on the flyers and in the newspapers say ALL Motorcyclists invited.

yup, always a good variety of people on these runs.
And they are usually well organised, but dont expect a speed thrill, its more for raising money for good causes and getting the public outa the idea that we are all a pack of arsehole bikers... good PR :msn-wink:

Post numbers 1 and 15 have all the info quoted from Saturdays newspaper including the words :mega: "All Motorcyclists" twice.

It's not raining as i type this so hopefully by lunch time it'll only be patchy showers at the worst with a nice fine interval to ride in.
Remember it's for a good cause,
So see you there.:yeah:

lol.... last time i had a bike with no 'chickenstrips' as you lot are calling them, it was unridable.
Wearing them off leaves no room for error, and i made one. and hurt someone:( then got in some trouble over it:Police:

We that is SDU and I will be there on our trail'es. (DR650 & KTM 640)
And we have new Knobbly's on, so its going to be fun as well.
So do not follow SDU to close as she likes to lock up the rear wheel on some down shift's on these new tires.

Will be going to the 1-pm ride, so see you there.

Transalper
25th April 2006, 13:27
Well people, you get a second chance.
The run will be held on the 14th May in hope of a better turnout under better conditions.
(Same place, same time)

This is good i think, as my gear seems to let in more water when standing around in the wet than when i jump straight on the bike and go go go

Rashika
25th April 2006, 13:44

Well we went we saw paid some money and got the badge.
And when for a wet ride to Hororata via back roads for a pie and pint, well 4 of us did anyway.
And my new jacket leaks and so does SDUer's and so do her pants.
Miracle new fibres? Bull shit.
At least they were warm to wear.

An 'Urban Myth'? Well I suppose if I can't be a 'Legend' I'll settle for being an 'Urban Myth'. (Thinks ... 'Urban Myth' might look cool on my user profile. Trouble is that to mantain the myth thing I'd have to make sure none of you guys ever met me.)

Well the rain put me off (as well as being a little tired from watching the FA Cup to 5 a.m.). To assuage my guilt for being a softy I'll pop $10 in the next St Johns donation box I see.

so Oakie remains an Urban Myth for another day.
