The joys of fishing :gob: theres hardly ever a camera about when you need one.
this collection of clips has been pretty well put together, still love the final one :blip: shit it would have hurt lols

Seen some ripper events while chasing salmon including some classic jetboat incidents & 4x4 mishaps, bloody never had the camera handy at any of them.

Been caught on video myself, that ended up being used in a Fishing store in ChCh as a promotional video years ago.

Yeah man the dude getting bitchslapped by the mahimahi and the dude going epileptic trying to hold the tuna both totally cracked my up.
I'll have to give the tongue fishing trick a go next time nothing else seems to work.

Why do fishers hold their rods upside down (with the reel and line guides on top)?

Why do fishers hold their rods upside down (with the reel and line guides on top)?

Thats just because of the design of the reels Hitcher, the most common reels are free spool level-wind reels compared to the old open face egg beater type reels. its a far more efficient design for casting & stress on the line itself, creates less line twist & chaffing damage.

Having the guides on top is a more efficient way of using the strength of the rod, when the rod is loaded up on playing a fish the line pushes on the rod instead of pulling. And with the design of modern rods their strength is designed to work in a parabolic curve, most rods from ultra lightweight fly fishing rods, general freshwater rods, salmon rods upto IGFA saltwater rods have only load strengths between 4lb - 8lb but its how the rod delivers that strength ( similar sort of principle as progressive springs).
most top quality rods these days are graphite composite or kevlar design and actually NZ made rods are amongst the best in the world
