Should be great! Food and drink for all the days, Pit pass, accomadation and travel sorted.

Just gotta pay for it all now!:bye:

Went last year. Not sure if I'll have the $$ this time, but definitely worth the trip if you can.

Stayed in a rental house in Smiths Beach which was a good move. About 20 minutes walk to the circuit - which was faster than the traffic. There was plenty of busses back from Cowes on the saturday night.

Me, crazylittleshit, vasalinewarrior, limbim... and maybe a couple of others are heading over. Not sure where we're staying yet - there's a hostel on the street in Melb that has all the bike shops on it that looks good (ie.cheap) but we want to hang out on the island for at least one night too so I dunno. Heading over Fri morn til Mon, prob just going to the Sun racing though - trying to keep it all under 1k.

We will be going over this year again, fly into Sydney week before (probably catch up with your Old Man Sparky), play tourist for a week, staying 10min walk to track already sorted, spending the weekend in Kawasaki corporate box.

Velox if you are going with a group look at renting a house in Cowes for a couple of days - this is the cheapest option if going in a group, call me if you have any queries 4770 460. (This will be our 8th or 9th trip to Phillip Island)

Melbourne is a long way from Phillip Island (2hr drive, buses take a lot longer). Plus with all the traffic etc, you'd find it better to rent a house on the island.

The house we got slept 6 easy- more if you want to crash on the floor - and was around $1000 for a week. So not bad when shared with others.

Hell yes I am going..have everything booked. Have a campervan booked through Britz in Melbourne..the lady was saying that they are already heavily booked..if anyone is thinking about it then hurry and book a campervan..$190 a day between 4 is pretty good, tickets are still $130 for 3 days until end of May and camp site is $71 per serson per day..all can be booked through grandprix.com.au..will look for SparkyBill maybe he can throw or drop a few cans off the Ducati balcony to the peasants?

Stay at the trackside campground! The show when everyone gets hammered is worth the entry price alone!

I'll be there with my usual crowd from canberra... missed the last one so really looking forward to this year what with it being the last of the true MotoGP bikes, and Stoner and Vermuelen (pole position for Turkey tonight!!) doing so well.

Pickle - thanks mate I might give you a call to see what's out there cause the only info I've got about accom on the island is off the web. Hey, do you know if any of the houses do a weekend deal or do they all just rent it out for the whole week?

Svs - I went a couple of years ago and they've got a good bus service leaving from Melbourne. At this stage the plan is to stay in Melbourne for at least Fri night cause we're only planning on going to the GP on Sun (cheaper and I want to do other Melbourne stuff) but it would be cool to stay on the island for at Sat and Sun night. Depends on the other lads too but that's the plan at this stage.

Btw - there's going to be 5 or 6 of us so if anyone knows of spaces available in houses for just the Sat and Sun night, send me a pm.

I went last year - my first time to see the 4 strokes.

They were bloody magnificent - not what I expected at all.

They are brutal - absolutely no elegance at all. They are very loud and rev quite low. I suspect they don't need the revs because the power so easly overwhelms the tyres. I can now understand why managing the tyres is so important. I'm sure they could destroy a tyre in a couple of laps if they wanted to.

I'm going again this year - next year won't be the same.

Hi Velox most places that rent out house do so for a week at a time for events like the Moto GP, they will tell you yes we will rent it to you for a couple of nights BUT it will cost the same as a week. Most campgrounds & Motels around Cowes have a 3 night minimum which you pay for even if you dont stay 3 nights.

The real estate company we have used in the past is Stockdale & Leggo, they have a good website. If you are only going to the racing on the Sunday you may as well get a cheap rental car and just go down for the day - same distance as going Wgtn to Manfield. It can be real scary driving back to Melbourne after the racing tho everyone instantly becomes a wanna be GP rider. Cops everywhere.

I went in 1990 & 91 as crew.
Then in 1998,2000,2002,2003,2004 and 2005 - and I'm booked fer this year.

Staying on the Island is prolly the best, but staying in Melbourne's OK as well.
Even form the middle of town, you just go down Toorak Road and peel off onto the M1.
