Well just when I thought I'd seen everything, I get this in my inbox. Finally the police have cottoned on that they can't keep up with us. This'll piss on the Auckland police helicopter. No seriously I heard a rumor that the police may be considering the purchase of a couple of unmarked sports bikes to enforce the Welly motorway, is it true?

Your thoughts?

What do you mean when? It's common knowledge that they read this forum, what's to stop them turning up on rides?

Hell... I could be a copper for all you know... I might also have won the lottery... or I could even be sticking it to your sister ;)

You can tell cops on rides, they're they ones sticking religeously to the speed limit.

You can tell cops on rides, they're they ones sticking religeously to the speed limit.

I went for a ride with a cop to Taupo a few years back from Napier.

On the way back, on the plains, the speedo on my RF900 was showing 270kph, he was pulling away.
I was trying to keep up with him.

We passed a hidden patrol car which I saw, but he did'nt.
I shat myself, momentarily wondered what to do, stop, slow etc, as I saw the cop car pull out way in the distance.
My mate kept going naturally as he had'nt seen the cop.

We stopped at the Te Pohue pub and there was a group of bikers there heading to Napier, so we figured that if the Taupo cop radioed ahead or whatever they do, it could be a bit hard to confirm who he saw.

The ramifications of what would happen to my mate, being a cop, if he was busted sunk home later:laugh:

Just thought I'd mention that some cops, well the ones I rode with then, have 'fun', as much some of us.
The local prosecuting Sergant here back then was a mad ass biker too.

Oh well, I've grown up since then, or grown out.:ride:

Cops, old geezers without teeth, old grannies with no teeth, young uns and everything in between: we can't help ourselves once you get a bit of mumbo between the legs. :)

How can you go slow and easy on a decent motorbike??

All an Apache pilot has to do is look at you and pull the trigger, that goes for missles and guns... has a cool setup in the cockpit which traces eye movements, and all he has to do is get a heat signature and a missle will follow it, or he can just follow you with his eye and shoot the 7.62 chin gun...

Sniper - who cares! Your sniping is more annoying than the reposts.

It's not a very good photoshop job - lacks shadows, wind effect and that blurr on the rotors is all wrong. :mega:

I agree with dave, if you repost saying its a repost then isnt that a repost of one of your old posts? (and its worse cos you KNOW that you are reposting)

ok now that ive confuddled myself id just like to say; not a repost as far as im concerned, amusing pic, and now im worried i cant spend the limitied time i do spend on the motorway above 100kms in fear of unmarked bikes :(

Hmm, that would be reason to join the cops! Get to ride and chase crims/law breakers on a superbike all day. Then let off those who gave you a really good ride.

It used to work from the helmet. A lot of the technology was available in the Cheyanne previously. Reading the Lockheed publicity could lead one to believe that the enemy doesn't stand a chance. From memory, "the pilot can hit the radiator cap on a car a mile away. or he can put one bullet in to each square foot of ground in an area the size of a football field."

The book "Not a Good Day to Die" set in Afghanistan gives a more realistic indication of how well the various technology works. Or doesn't work.

helmet has a flip down reticle if i remember correct. lazers pickup the movement off the helment, and lines up with what the pilots eye sees through the reticle. Either way, i wouldnt want to be running from it.

Well, here is a movie of how well the Apache set-up is at night.

Warning:- Not for the faint-hearted.
