View Full Version : rides for slower riders
FROSTY

Nowadays when I'm riding on the road I tend to more or less stick to the speed limit.I just can't be without a licence so I'm ultra careful.
As well as that I'm usually carrying precious cargo--(my son) and any faster and his neck can't cope.
Does anyone organise rides to cater for slower riders like me?
Better still maybee a ride route that lets us arrive at the same place as you
fast guys by going by a shorter route

PT, Milky and I usually go for speed limit rides (mainly due to the CB not being able to speed and the beemer not liking it) But those rides are generally just short ones (up scenic drive then to bethells or wellsford) but if we are going on one we can let you know :niceone:

If I may join you guys, give me a yell next time. That used to be my old route back in the days.
I used to go to phia and back a couple of times then head up scenic drive then bethells and come out wellsford way.

I will organise one, when i get the bike back..... My rides are generally on Sundays (even though i work everyday :( ) in the morning :niceone: will post when it will happen :niceone: Riding speed is usually 10-15kmh within the limit but we try to keep that speed through the really tight and twisty, speed while passing is upto you, but as soon as passing is done, we slow down to the safe zone again :niceone:

Gotta love bethells road, I think I must be the slowest ever rider out there though as cages regularly catch me up. I'll prolly be in.

it's a pity none of you guys live down here on the east coast, as I always do the limit or under, can't stand going any faster, feels like I'm gonna get blown off the bike, the worst thing about cruiser bikes, but what's the definition of cruiser anyway! Me and hubby went into town today to get his bike re vinned after 4 years of not being reged, it flew thru and is all road legal now, cool  anyway, the weather turned to crap and I got drenched on the way home, the wet weather gear I have is very ineffective, he however was dry as a bone,

I'll come down for a good long ride from here thru to gizzy and we can go for a scoot :) Now I just need a day or two to spare... ummmm....
Count me in for the slower rides too, the F650 isn't such a speedster at all!
Mind you, not too bad through the twisties, went on a Coromandel run a few weeks back and scraped footpegs a few times.....

Besides I don't always like hooning. I do a lot of touring and cruising as well (less tickets that way):msn-wink:

Definitely.... I have no lectures on wednesdays, and the field trips that ruined my grand plan to work on weds are gone, as is the work. So in the next few weeks I'd be keen...

Hi everybody. Antallica, his mate and I are planning to do a ride before the AK Spanner Evening tomorrow. We'll be leaving Whangarei about 10am. Should reach Wellsford by 11'ish, for those that want to join in here. Plan is to meet up with XJXJXJ (an any other riders that want to join us) at Owera McD's around 12noon (must ring him to confirm this). I plan to head out to Dairy Flats, then KKK and use to back roads arould Helensville, Waimauku, Kumeu and Waitakere before heading back Via Swason to Don Buck Rd and XJXJXJ's.
My contact Ph No. re: this ride is 027 534350
PS: Could those with up todate info on these areas please advise me on the state of these roads (tarseal only, road works, pea-metal, etc.).
Thanks,
RIB

Will Just have to wake up tomorrow and see what it brings. If it's bad the ride will be off (persistant rain and wind). If it's really bad (very heavy rain, wind or hail) I'll come to the spanner evening in the Ute. Any worse than that I'll stay at home. Otherwise it's the CBR all the way:2thumbsup

day off forme on wendsnesday ... :spudwave:How well do you know the back roads around your area, Wari?
It's been a long time for me since I've used the roads South of Huapai/Kumeu (Awa, Tawa, Hamham, Taupaki, Red Hills, etc) and am rusty on which ones are tarsealed. Know Wellsford, KKK, Helensville, Peak Rd and Old North fairly well.
xj I will probably head up via Hellinsville to meet the guys at lunch @ 12:30 if I go ... will depend on some other stuff I gotta get done on the day.
But if that suits ... pm me with some hookup details and I will check KB tonight or the morning.
RiB probably dont know the roads any bettern you mate ... hope to see you blokes at wellsford. :spudbooge

Hi Frosty,
We have a mixed bunch that ride every couple of weeks, usually on a sunday morning. Those that go fast always stop and wait for the slow coaches like me, there's no pressure to ride fast. Your welcome to join us any time. Just PM me or Death your cell phone number, we usually send a txt to a few and whoever is free joins us. We're hoping to ride this Sunday if it's fine. :baby:
Cheers, Draco :2thumbsup
