View Full Version : Hi guys (ogr1)
and gals.
My name is Karl, I've Just joined the forum and this is my 1st post :whocares:
I ride a 97 Honda blackbird, carb version here in the UK. I've had her about 2 months and it's feckin awsome  Rode a Yamaha FJ1200 ABS before that. I live on the west side of the UK (Lancashire) and we get more rain than you can shake a stick at, really crap summer so far :violin:
Great site, hope to post you lot some of the routes that we ride, not as picturesque as your Island, but some good scenic and twisty rides.
Here are some pic's of previously owned bikes (except the Blackbird)
Enjoy.............

Welcome Karl from a fellow Blackbird owner. I'm also a member of the UK Superblackbird site as are a few other KB members. I've hosted 3 members of the UK site over here this year (2 from the Manchester/Preston area) and they've been great people.
Enjoy your time on the site - the members are cool people!

Hahahaha - perhaps that's why the Preston people are actually emigrating. The husband landed a job over here whilst they were touring around! Are you a member of the Ferrets website for northern riders? Most of them are 'bird owners and are touring Scotland at present. The Co-ordinator, Clive Johnson was over here in '03.

I have a good friend who is a pommy biker and he put me onto Ogri... I don't know of any other Kiwis who have heard of the cartoon! I have recently ordered a 'Mitzi' tshirt... I reckon Ogri rocks!
I wondered how long it would be before the word "Pommy" made an entrance :D

That particular Harley was a loaner but it handled great... but then I tend to ride big-blocks as tho they are just giant sporty's he he he... I was riding with a mate who was testriding a Buell XB and the Harley was leading the way!
Just got the Buell these days and still in lust with it! Just had the 84,000km service done!

Kia ora and welcome to KB.
Nice bikes you have owned in the past.
When you come over to NZ, you must see both islands (North and South). Take about a 2 months holiday break to see all of NZ.
Best time is in our summer months November throu to March..........

So time it around your annual 3 or 4 weeks holiday (xmas time when the business shuts down) and then add on another 4 weeks. There is your 8 weeks.
Seriously you cant rush around and expect to see all of NZ in 4 weeks.
4 weeks to see one island maybe...
NZ is really Godszone and a beautiful place to see with so many other things to do as well.
Four weeks hol's and four weeks sick............sorted!
What's the summer season like then? Are both Islands much alike regarding the climate?
November to March, Christmas in the sun....sounds cool.

Absolutely... it amazes me when people visit for 4 wks and go home saying they've seen New Zealand... and altho the Sth Is seems to be the main attraction for overseas visitors the North Is is just as great! Beaches and bush galore...

Tis sunny in both islands...
The further north you go the hotter it is.
The lads and gals in the south island can give you a better idea of what summer is like - Dangerous, Rashika, Scumdog, Virago and sniper to name a few.
Im up in Auckland and we have great weather up here.
Northland is more hotter- TLrider and RiderInBlack
Gisborne and also Napier/Hastings is always hot and sunny over the summer months - Yungatart and MSTRS
Wellington area - Hitcher, Jim600, Cowpoos and NC to name a few.
So you could contact them to check out what is the happening in there areas over the summer months.
crashe.........Thanx for the info, much appreciated :niceone:

Both Islands are beautiful! It's like having two different countries in one, (three if you count Stewart Is.). The South Island is unique and even the people seem different there! Personally I love the SI but there are amazing roads in the North too!
