vt250 spada a good bike?

i am thinking of buying a honda spada as a first bike, and have found one in my town for $3500. would like to know your opinions/expericences on the bike.

I can say on 1st hand experience that the Spada is an excellent choice! I have done 500kms in one day on mine and I could have gone another couple of hundred quite happily.

They run sweet, have a nice torquey(sp?) engine (for a 250), a predictable and easy power curve.
They're good for commuting, a day long cruise or a quick fang out on the back roads.
The comfort level is good. Not huge but not small. I don't know how tall you are, but I'm 5'8" or so and it's good.

One complaint would be that the brakes could be better. They work good enough to be able to stop in a safe distant etc, but it would be nice to have some with a little more bite. I heard that an NSR250 front end bolts straight in:innocent:

If you get it, you are bound to have A LOT of fun on it. I hope you make the right choice and get one of these beautiful, under-rated machines.

100kms in 6th gear = 9000rpm. It red lines at 13.5 and the rev limiter kicks in at 14.5 - I think.

Petrol = open road at 100kms you get about 260ish out of a tank. I put $10 (6 litres or so) and in town, that lasts me about 110kms plus reserve. Pretty economical

Get it checked out at those k's no matter how nice it looks. Ive heard of these bikes going 80-100000km though.

i like the look of the zeal, but am leaning towards the spada as it is located less that 500 M from me. if i dont buy this, i was thinking of buying from sumoto learner centre. around 4200 for a cbr250, plus helmet,jacket, delivery and waranty. does anyone have experience with summoto?

was also thinking of a suzuki across, but have heard bad things about their fuel econonmy. any thoughts?

thats extremely expensive!!
and i wouldn't buy it anyway, it's lucky to have lasted that far, and it would be a miracle for it to last past 60,000km without some serious engine work

Good bikes, i used to lust after the vt250 about 15 years ago :D
Im sure it will be everything you desire in a first road bike, does seem abit pricey tho.....

$4200 for a cbr with gear is pretty cheap here. a decent RR will easily run to $5500 just for the bike. im more leaning to the acorss now, as i will be doing longish distances and have heard that it is more comfortable

im asutralian by the way, our bikes are more expensive as a rule.

From memory Australia doesn't have the used Japanese imported vehicles anywhere near the scale that we do here in N.Z. As a result things like VK Commodores still go for around $10k, when you'd be lucky to get $1k here for one. The price on the Spada may not be expensive in that market.

Honduh have been knocking out 250 V2's for years and it'll probably go forever with a little maintenance. It's not like you guys have real hills or twisty roads over there anyways aye?

Do not buy a bike from summoto! I have only ever heard bad things bout them. For more details visit http://www.cr-x.org/cbr250 and read previous posts or join and ask questions.

One little trick summoto do is put the RR stickers on the earlier model R's and sell them to learners who don't know any better. Just be careful dealing with them.

Good bikes but be aware of cam chains with these. 45000kms and you gotta do them. And rusty fuel tanks too - the seals round the filler leak. Got the clever Kawasaki gearbox with the easyfind neutral
