Whos ass gets kicked for that little cock up today??
No ordering, pricing or even talking to any suppliers today.
So here i am.. miles behind in my work, STILL HERE!, cold, knowing that i still need to ride home in the cold, wind and rain!
So its not just Auckland thats been put out by this power out.
Think of the little guys too!
At least the News and Campell Live get something new to bitch about.

I assume that's because espresso machines run on electricity?
Just heard on TV1 news that some silly bugger fell off an oil tanker as it left Welly harbour. A bit bloody cold for that kind of fun innit? I hope he is found safe & well.

You're most welcome - I had a very nice nap, read a book and had the most relaxing morning in ages - then I went for a ride after a sandwich and perused the latest Kiwi rider till the power came on.
Carry on.
Seriously, the weather here was shitful - it would have blacked out parts of a large city anywhere in the world.

Yep even after negotiating all the mad traffic with no traffic lights working, in the truck, the ride home on the R1 was even better. And that was ONLY the traffic.

HAHA so true LOL
Ahh still was a fun day at work - something different for a change.
As for riding to work today in that wind - screw that. Caged in
I still say that this is only just the start of what’s to come with Auckland’s power infrastructure the way it is.

At least the News and Campell Live get something new to bitch about.I'm in part of Auckland that wasn't affected today, the whole of the Northshore and West Auckland had continuous power. In Albany where I work we experienced the spikes in electicity in the morning and afternoon but never lost any power, there was a pile of unsent faxes on the desk at 4pm though. :nono:
I had friends caught in the traffic jams and family without power until 1pm, it did indirectly affect me, but when i saw the state of the Sth Is on the box tonight i cringed and was immediately thankful for where I am right now.

Ahh least the CBD didn’t loose power for 5 weeks like last time. 4 - 8 hours isn’t to bad (Unless you are stuck in a lift :gob: ) and yes it shouldn’t have happed in the first place but shit does and will happen.
The power is still off in allot of homes down south and I send my sympathy for them as you don’t appreciate electricity till you have lost it. Won’t forget today dramas for a long time.:wait:

yeah, no power cut in Albany. Was frantic trying to save my work everytime the lights flickered. Day off would have been nice. Sigh.

yeah yeah whatever... I got sent home...so rode home in the most appalling weather... blasting down the Southern, getting blown all over the place... made it home, shed the gear, turned the heater on thinking "shit-hot!" then moments later the phone rings and I get called back into work, a sparky got the buildings generator going... UNBELIEVABLE!!! and yes! I went back in...

When I lived on Waiheke Island power cuts were a way of life - it was supplied with 3 undersea cables. In storms one was always likely to fail,or a tree taking out a powerline - we were well set up for blackouts.I had hurricane lamps on hooks on the ceiling by the back door, always full of kero, candles and matches easy to hand even in the dark - it was a well oiled routine as we jumped into action, everyone had their job.We were on tank water with a pump,so the bottom of the pantry was full of 3 litre water bottles,a gas bottle and single ring burner under the bench close to the stove....there was almost no break in the cooking as the pot went onto the gas burner. At work we never noticed, just drop the air gun and pick up a ratchet. It was a bugger when a car was up on a hoist though,we had to wind it down by hand, reaching the bottom just as the power came back on.
No one ever complained - we were tree hugging hippies, that's what we were there for,to experiance life on the edge.
