Thats this coming Sunday I gather.

I may be able to make it and have been planning to do a loop for a while waiting on the weather to come right.

Weestromer and another guy in Rotorua now have GSX1400's too and I was hoping to T up a ride with them in the next few weeks.

This Sunday would be okay I suppose but the weather forecast is shite. :(

Have the house on the market with open homes and crap, so getting out is tough right now.

Will see how things pan out but would love to come. My favourite run, the Coro Loop. :)

A stretch of road named SH25 that links Kopu, Coromandle and a few other towns with long names I can't spell.

It has a lovely stretch of twisties, straights and sweepers with absolutely breathtaking scenery.

The road condition is lovely and there are plenty of gas and food stops along the way so you can make your engine scream without fear of running out of gas or energy.

It's easily one of my favorite rides - check out the pics, you will understand why some of us love those roads.

Just pics I found on the net.

On most of my rides, I don't even notice there's a view until I stop - and I hate stopping on a ride.

Gotta go to Auckland to shift my daughter, Sat and Sunday. If the ride doesn't happen and its postponed I'd be a starter. If it does go ahead have a good safe ride.

Hey Smokin Joe, I think Sunday will be crap weather wise :(
BUT, as soon as we get a real good weekend, I intend on doing the Loop anyways and I reckon most people on this thread will go as well.

Just getting a nice day on a weekend will be nice for once aye? :)

If Sundays weathers okay, I'll try and be there and Weestromer and any others from South can can meet at Kopu gasser around 10.30am.

Can't do the normal pace around the loop this time of the year as that loverly green stuff likes hiding around the corners where the sun don't shine.

You won't regret it mate. best done in summer when it's dry. The twisties are just great when you can hang off your bike with full tyre grip.
I don't get much chance to look at the scenery as the road needs your full concentration mostly, but it's got to be one of the best rides in the country. :)

My pick is it will be "OK" in the morning, with a risk of us getting nailed by Rain, Strong Winds, and maybe even HAIL on the way back....

Hmmm - hope that front speeds up and passes overnight, not too much possibility of this happening though...

Well well well,it seems some people can't take a little criticism, I only wish my memory were as good as yours mate. Have a good ride, I seem to detect that somehow I'm not too welcome, I could be wrong though as I may have mis-interpreted your message in much the same way as when i red repped you?

Hey Vagabond,

I'm sure ZRXER meant it all in fun. He's a bit tongue in check. :)
His barks worse than his bite. :innocent:

I'm sure I speak for him when I say all are welcome. Hell, if anyones keen to come tomorrow with the conditions we face, alls welcome :)

Anyways, I reckon we might get a bit of a break in the weather in the morning and early afternnoon but as has been said might face a bit of hail and crap on the way back.

Dunno about the rest but I'm up for it :)

Unless it's really pissing down tommorow morning, lets go for it. The way the weathers been lately, we'll all be sitting around for months without a ride.

So, dress real warm, wear your wetties and make sure your tyre pressure is right. The roads aren't going to be warm enough to make up for low pressure in your tyres. It might be a lot slower run than normal but lets have some fun. It's been a couple of weeks since I've got out and I don't know about the rest of you but I'm suffering cold turkey not getting a leg over my 14. :)

Thanks for the ride ZRXER - I think today I broke my puddle splashing record.....

Thanks for the little blat on your bike MR  can't believe $2XX feels so cheap (slow)...... lovely handling too, not as good as my Honduh though:nya:.

I got up early then spent 1/2 an hour debating on whether or not I should wash my bike.... decided to wash it - got delayed - tried to catch up using back roads - got lost - went back to SH1 - caught up along the way to Coromandel - then enjoyed splashing around with the rest of the crew.

Nice seeing all the old faces and the new guys on the red SV1000 and the CBR600F.

On the way back looking at the haze created by MR and Beyond it looked as though their motors had blown

These new synthetic pads I had installed provided unbelievable feel and stopping power, very, very confidence inspiring under hard breaking in the wet. Highly recommend them.

Yes good ride had by all nice to see that Coro can be enjoyed in the winter and with safety. Like the new bike Weestromer looks like you got a deal, allways enjoy riding with you as well. Thanks Steve (ZRXer) for a organising the ride. Ups to the Rozzer who came the other way, between Coroglen and Tairua, for leaving us all alone.

Good time had by all I think. Yeah, can still enjoy the loop in winter albeit a lot slower pace than summer of course. Was a good day and the weather wasn't too bad at all considering. Some hairy corners, but to be expected.

You're getting the hang of your new bike by the looks Steve. Some good riding for the wet. Motoracer, dunno if I would like to corner that hard in the wet even with Pilot Powers. Looked good though :)

Everyone handled the conditions well, which was good to see. No one decided to go off road and have a closer look at the scenery, which would have been easy to do.

Yeah, Tony, you got a good deal on your 14 mate. Nice machine and the screen looks like it's part of the original bike.

Double thumbs up to the Rozzer alright. That could have been nasty.

Thanks guys. Good to catch up with you all.

Hope you guys that went through Paparimu went by choice and not through a communication mix up. Good riding with yas anyway. :)

Thanks fellows.

Thanks fellows.

By choice, there wasn't that much rain in the end.

Nice to finally meet you by the way.

I think the only reason the Rozza let us through was because he didn't have enough manpower to create a road block further ahead. He could not have turned around and caught up to us. Unless those Holdens are capable of speeds in the very high 200's.

Good ride home bugger all rain until I hit Matamata then only a bit over the Mamaku's, darn cold though, hit Rotorua at 4.35 so made good time.
Fell of in the driveway when front slipped out on grass centre, but no damage.:whocares:
Had a dinner party last night and the cook didn't close door to wood shed where she had put the rubbish, it was scattered all over the section by my black lab who obviously got bored.:gob:
Fire going and have reheated the mulled wine left over from last night.
Now to get warmed up!!!
Good to catch up with Steve, Bruce & Paul and meet you other guys. Fuck it was cold today especially Rotorua -Matamata end of ride.

Thanks for organising the ride zrxer!

Well, last night I was wrapped around in my blanket feeling pretty sick with no intension of going on a ride the next morning.

Woke up at 9:25 this AM and I was like... Hey.. I don't have a runny nose... Hey! The sun is shining out side! HEY!! There's that coro ride meet up in Autobhan in 5 mins! So I pretty much jumped straight out of my bed on to my bike and luckily I got there in time.

Had a wicked ride right through out. The weather was real shit in the begining through to Kopu with heavy rain and I was on the edge of woosing out and turning back. Then all of a sudden, Mr. :sunny: decided to show up. Sweet!!

This was my first proper ride with Michlen Pilot powers in the wet and fukin hell. I love em! Just like everyone else, I'd agree that they are the best tires I've tried in the wet. Felt real confident and it was getting better and better as the day progressed. Since crashing out in Manfield in the wet a couple of times, my confidence in the wet has been real shit but I'm slowly getting it back. Still a fair way away from the wet weather demon I once used to be but there's hope atleast now. Cheers Pilot Powers!!! :first: I even did a few rolling stoppies in the rain, that's how good the tires are!

Good riding by all. It's always nice not to have to deal with any spills. I think Beyond was one of the quickest out there with a fairly balding front tire on that huge beastie bike. Nice going man! :niceone:

Highlight of the day for me was again doing my personal best wheelie ever! Pulled it up at about 85kmph.. Nice and smooth... Got it higher and higher.. Revs got up to about 12,000, possibly doing about 120kmph.. OK time to settle it down before I run out of revs I thought.. But then I went a bit higher.. and higher still! Then I entered the uncharted terotory of constant velocity while on one wheel. I was stunned! Other than the fact that my whole vision was blocked by the bike, I couldn't belive how sureal and almost spiritual balance point feels like. Then after going a touch higher still after that, I thought I better bring it down before I over did it. Fuck, that was cool!! :doobey:
