Ok... so I've been thinking fairly seriously about getting heated grips since I saw one from motomail for about $100 bucks. So I decided to have a look at my current grips and make sure I can remove them if I decide to get it, and I removed the end caps off the handle bars but....

The grips won't budge a bit!

Now these are factory grips on my fxr and I understand that they come glued? So how would I go about removing these grips so that I can install new grips?

Thanks!

Usually i get some CRC or WD40 and bung the long thin plastic nozzle thingy under an edge and give it a squirt, wiggle, repeat etc.

I've used a compressed air pistol. Just lift the end of the rubber, blow down it and it usually just slides off easy. No need to wreck them.

I use a very thin philips screwdriver and slide it into the gap between grip and handlebar. Then I roll it around the bar.this will break the glue bond. Then I just use the ol air gun and blow the grip off

Thanks a lot everyone.

I won't be fitting a heated grip on the fxr anymore but hell I just bought a new bike and I might have a couple of hundred left over so I'm thinking heated grips!!! (I might have a bit more in which case I'm thinking a MRA spoiler or touring windshield for better wind protection... Anyone know where to get them in NZ???)
