Faulty cdi
Does anyone know of a place that repairs cdi units? My cdi is stuffed in my old gpz so yesterday i brought a second hand one from the wreckers at a stagering $150. By the look of it, it would be lucky to last a couple of months, so in the mean time i might get the other one repaired, but i wouldnt have a clue who might do this and how much it would cost. Any help would be great.

$150 is well cheap, try pricing an original. How can you tell how long it will last by looking at it? In my years in the electronics industry I have never met anyone who had such powers. Most are sealed in plastic resin so servicing is impossible, or at least very hard.

Of more concern try checking out your charging cct. If your regulator is duff it will feed a too high voltage to the CDI & kill it. Any more than say 15V on the battery when you rev it will be an issue.

PS if your bike starts to run on one cylinder, the cam has lost it's hardening. They were a neat bike but with this major flaw.
