For the muppets out there 206mph is bascilly 332kph, fucken fast in anyones book (on a public road), that must be one hell of a trick GSXR1000, i want one

OMG, that's friggin fast... Imagine how much horsepower you'd need to break through that aerodynamic hole - probably another 100hp allowing for the extra large testicle carrier you'd need to tow behind it!

BlackYoshi hit 304 on the back straight at Puke on his Yoshimura Edition GSXR1000.
I thought the silver muppet came close 300 too........
Educational answer please - How much $$$ and what else would be required to get a standard thou to do those speeds??
I heard of a chap who "can't wheelie for shit" do 330 on a ZX12R..... which had a few internals or sumching laik dat...... and a custom full exhaust system.

And you believe everything you're told do ya?
Fact: A GSXR thou' will never read faster than 299kph. I know now of three people claiming otherwise but they've obviously actually never been to 299 or they'd know it stopped there and wouldn't claim otherwise.

No, But the people doing the talking were not your typical story tellers.
The gixxer had been played around with and had lots of tasty bits, it was in no way factory standard,

And the speedo had been replaced with a Nizmo unit too had it?
Sorry mate, Gixxers don't read over 299, I don't care if Kevin fucken Schwantz tells me he's seen higher on one. Doesn't matter if the bike's got 700hp! It doesn't happen.
So obviously, anyone telling you otherwise IS your typical story teller as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know - who cares.
Anyway back to my question - say if you had a standard thou from any of the big jap four - what would you need to do to it to break the magic 200mph mark??
White trash
21st June 2006, 18:40
Not much to break it, an ex Clee bike will do it fairly easily I reckon.
Speedo wont go over 299kph still.

but, but, it's one of your fellow Gixxer riders! How could a Gixxer clan member be a story teller?
What if his Lordship, Sir John of the Hopkins told ya he saw 310km/h while going round the outside of some numpty? You'd believe him then eh?
EDIT: and you know I'm talking about a GSXR here, 'cos a GSVR would REALLY be telling tall stories.

So what would you need to do?
Full exhaust system, take off the lights and other heavy stuff, adjust gearing (whatever that means - can someone explain please??)....
Would that be enough??

Weight matters diddly squat in the equation really its drag thats the killer at speeds up there, you remove mirrors etc to lower the CoD not loose weight
White trash
21st June 2006, 19:17
Altering gearing is done by changing the ratio at which the rear wheel spins in relation to the gearbox output shaft. Raising gearing will mean the rear wheel turn further per gearbox revolution, and lowering means less.
Gain 15hp on a K5 Gixxer, find a bit of road long enough and some slightly heigher gearing, 200mph would be acheivable.

Ahh, thanks - never thought about lowering the center of gravity aspect.
I easily hit the limiter on my MC22 before the kink on the back straight of Puke with the mirrors and indicators off, was slightly harder with them on, on a previous day.

I think you'll find he meant Drag Co-efficient. Nothing to do with Centre of Gravity.
But hey, play your own game...

D = gravity what have you been smoking??
Here I am talking about aerodynamics and you move on to Newtons findings??
D = Drag
C= Coefficient
CoD coefficient of drag

Not centre of gravity, the drag coefficient.

My old '73 Kawasaki Z1 has been clocked by Police Lazer at 312KMH(196mph) down the back straight at Puke, without a fairing. A nice slippery new 1000 wouldn't need much done to reach 200mph I would think, especially on a 1 mile straight.

Without getting into a slanging match or a "mine is bigger than yours" competition . . . ??? Ah what the hell . . I still think your choice is all about posing, or maybe I'm just too old and sensible now. If you were buying the bike for something like it's intended purpose I wouldn't have posted my first comments. You strike me as one of those yuppy wankers who buys a bike to be a "bikie" only to end up a yuppy wanker with a bike.

probally a lot more work and real biking to get a 73 to 200 than buying one out of the box that can do it!

Nope! it sure ain't. Have a read to get a first-hand account of what it's like.
Steve Hislop:
"You've probably hooked back into 5th gear by this time, around the little ivy covered wall there, around the right and you can nearly hook top gear as you go around the left. If you've got it right then you're carrying all that speed up the Sulby Straight. Quarry Bends is so fast you have to get it right and on a good big bike, you can hook into top gear - if not just exiting that last left, definitely before the little right flick as you suddenly come along. Then you've got a recently resurfaced section, then you've got the fast left and your on past the Sulby Glen and along the rest of the Straight.
Sulby Straight is just like a green tunnel at that speed. You can see the light at the end but it's just a tunnel. You can imagine pulling 30,000 revs, 180mph, you're just bouncing, the engine revs are kicking up all the time. You're trying to hold yourself down, it's belting you on the chest, you're actually getting kicked above the screen and you get to the village. You go through the right kinks, still flat and the braking point should be about at the 200 metre board which is up on the telegraph pole. Serious hard braking here, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and then into the bridge. The last couple of years that I did it with bigger bikes, by the time I'm getting to the right kink in the village you're just quite happy to start braking. Spectators sitting at the side might say "Bit of a wimpy shot that", but it's just by the time you get there you've had enough."

Another reason to disbelieve police radars !!!!!! How do you hang onto a naked bike at 312 KPH ?????
I heard the other day that someone (nameless) in the Hutt valley was claiming his new ZX10R wheelies at 190 MPH !!!!!!!!!!!
Do you get prizes for these claims !!!!!!!! Gaz.

"196"mph '73 Kawasaki. There's a few things been done to it, and yes, it is a bitch hanging on at that speed, for 2 reasons. 1 - it's bloody fast and 2 - it's still accelerating hard.
