hey i'm just trying my luck here because i've lookd around locally and not much luck

i'm looking for a speedo drive for my kawasaki kr150...not sure if the year and model make a difference more than the size of the unit but the bike is a 2000 kawasaki kr150a

it's been off the road for just about a month now since rego and wof expired and i can't get another one till the speedo's working again:angry:

would really appreciate the help in finding a 2nd hand one that works...the problem with mine is the worm gear seems to have gotn stuck or worn or whatever and striped the teeth on the other gear thats attatched to the wheel so really these are the only 2 bits i need but a whole new unit would be easier to put back together

really REALLY want to get back on the road so if anyone has a wrecked kr or even a speedo drive that will work on my bike send me a message:)

fyi, you only need the speedo to move - it doesnt need to be accurate for a wof

Cop pulls you over...
COP- "Do you know what speed you were going back there son"?
YOU- "No sorry, my speedo doesnt work"...

Go to your local pushbike shop and buy a push bike speedo. Not sure how much they are, but they're cheap - much cheaper than replacement bike parts.

Or go to the AA WoF place in Panmure, they do the WoF with the bike stationary, so long as the speedo is physically there they won't notice if it works or not.

yea zeroindex said thats another alternative to looking for parts...havn a bit of trouble getting it on though because my spokes are larger than a push bikes...i'll be up in auckland this weekend so i'll check out the yellow pages for bike spares shops...would rather get the real speedo working but at least it keeps the mileage down if i use a push bike on:innocent: hehe

there must be some easy way of attaching the magnet (that doesn't require the spoke).. ooooh, have you thought of using sealing putty (or whatever it's called).. that would do the trick, wouldn't it?

hmm i guess...as long as it's strong enough to hold the magnet on when the wheel goes around because i can't be doing 80 miles an hour then all of a sudden 0 and when i stop the magnet has fallen off on the road somewhere:laugh:

how strong is soldier? (used for eletrical circuts)

you shouldn't have any probs with attaching a bike speedo. I ran one on an RGV 250 in the UK and it was good up to 150mph. (Well 131mph idicated on dyno)

solder wouldn't be a very good idea.. sealing/bonding putty would be the best option, cause you can mold it to the correct shape etc, and it dries like a rock.. you'd battle to get the magnet off if you wanted to.. unfortunately i've run out of the stuff..
