Strongly advised you think twice about using thisa company's services after the guy in the silver ute tried to run me off the road when I shook my head at him for tailgating.

His ute door now bears my footprint.

He shot past me on my left and smacked my mirror with his as I was coming off the motorway at St Lukes.. :ar15:

You do go to the cops, which you should ,just make sure youre clean, IE if you booted in his door expect to pay for it.
As even though you were wronged, you still purposefully damaged his door and your liable for it as wilful damage :Police: .
So think carefully about it, maybe you can just put it down as experience.
They are hurting already from the actions of a mindless idiot as we are all talking about it now right!!

When drivers of commercial vehicles do dumb or dangerous shit, I do not hesitate to contact the GM of the company concerned and suggest to him that he may like to remind his drivers that when they are driving a vehicle sign-written with the compamy name, then they are flying the company flag, and that their behaviour on the road is dragging the flag into the mire. (shit, that's a long sentence!) I also tell them that if I were looking for a company in their line of business to deal with, that they are off the list of potentials. Simple fact is that a lot of people go loose in company vehicles, and if the boss isn't told, it isn't going to stop.

I have sent the company an email with the rego # of the vehicle and details of what happened along with a bit of a lecture.

I suspect the guy who was driving may have been the boss, as he looked mid to late 30's, and was obviously under a bit of stress to get road rage to the extent of locking up when I was behind him 'cos I was giving him the bird! :finger:
(this was after he passed me so close he smacked my mirror )

Getting angry will get you killed eventually. It is really important to stay on top of your situational awareness and being angry tends to give you a narrow focus.

Anger uses up mental processing power so lose the anger ASAP and concetrate instead on getting away from the psychotic loser as fast as possible (NB Not advocating speeding here :Police: )

Hang loose, and don't even waste the energy counting to 10 because while you're doing that there is another hazard to avoid.

Hows about turning right out of buckley rd, the guy behind decides not to be behind, is turning right and inches forward next to me. literally next to me. Lets me go turn right first though, how nice of him. Unfortunately it made me slower to turn as I had to be sure that he wasnt turing outside of me, as I turn left immediately after. Wish I had boot studs or something, he had some nice shiny mags. But what do you do? you are more vulnerable if he decides to get nasty.....

Ring the company and speak to the boss. Give him the rego, time, date and place and explain how pissed off you are. Company managers generally do not take kindly to their employees driving like f**k sticks in the company cars.

dude get ya story straight--he tailgated ya then pulled across on ya .
in reaction you put ya foot up to fend off the swerving ute.
But seriously mate it really is a case of such is the life of a bike rider.
As Ive said before you do need to think it through and figure out what if anything you could do to avoid the situation
. Keep in mind that forcing your "right' to be on the road could make you the most correct person in the cemetry or hospital.
It just aint worth stressin over.

You want a real adventure? Try 3:00 - 3:45 around any of the school areas, especially the private schools. Most dangerous time to be out and about. Apparently picking little precious up is more important than the lives of other road users...

Bah, I just tried to use their feedback form but im getting Page Cannot Be Displayed when I try to submit it. grrrr

On the other side of things, I had my first time in real traffic yesterday (am a learner) and signalled and we around the outside of the stopped cars and had no problems getting back into the traffic at the roundabouts.

Well here's a question - slightly :Offtopic: but relating to riding in the CBD & crazy cagers.

Give ways rules...
No.1 - At an uncontrolled 'T' intersection. I am turning right out of the street and another car is turning left into the street. My understanding has always been that they traffic turning right into the street gives way to me. Is that correct - b/c yesterday they sure as hell didn't.

No.2 - I am going straight ahead and the cage driver is turning right, he is on my left, we are both at compulsary stop signs. I thought I had to give way to him. He kindly waved me on.

You are correct on both counts.

1. Didn't see you. They may have looked at you but their threat response didn't activate so for all practical purposes you didn't exist.

2. Is an idiot who had no idea.

No. 1 - about 3 cars did this to me in a row. Its the intersection at the top of Cuba St that goes onto Webb St - am I right that it's uncontolled? I couldn't see any lines on the road or any signs. And I decided that I'd come off worse for wear if I tried to go.

No. 2 - That's the Cuba and Able Smith Streets(?), ya know just down from your work.

Thanks for that Jum.

And yeah, the uncontrolled intersection thing, you have right of way, but you always have to watch out because people are just used to turning off the more "main" road.

But I thought if I was going straight ahead & he was turning I give way to him? We were both on STOP signs.

Ok, imagine this situation.
+ intersection, everyone on stop signs.
If you're on the bottom, going straight ahead, and theres someone on your left wanting to turn right, they give way.
Reason: Standard give way rules apply. Always give way to your right.

ok, Same intersection. You're coming from the bottom, going straight again. He's coming from the top wanting to turn right across your path. He gives way again. He would give way to anything coming straight through (technically its on his right.)

1. You're right. It's like the Petone off ramp onto the Hutt road from the Korokoro lights. They always assume you are on a give way.

2. It is an arse that intersection. I always get people on my right waving me through, and looking at me like I am a spas when I refuse to go.

Ha! If he's been riding for so long I wonder if he's a KB'er!

The agressive gestures only came after he tried to run me off the road, unless you call a shake of the head agressive when you're three feet away from my rear wheel :p
If any of you know the St Lukes off ramp, you'll know that it's only one lane until right up by the end...

Let's not get too carried away with this though guys - I would rather stay alive than have this guy run me down next time he sees me, so perhaps the malicious emails should stop - After looking back through this thread it seems that this kind of run-in happens quite regularly, and there's not much we can do about it being the little guy.
If he reckons he's been a biker for years I don't think abusing a 250 rider is very wise, both in terms of my obvious skill level and his regard for human life.
Perhaps not the kind of person to be making enemies with?? I wouldn't want to see any of you becoming a statistic because somebody has it in for motorcyclists over something like this.
