Anybody heard anything more about this? I've spoken to people who reckon that Taupo has secured an A1GP round, but don't know how true that is. I see the petition sigs are still trickling in. There seems to be a lot of support generally for it both from within the biking community and outside. I'm heading of to Phillip Island in Sept. so I'll see what we can look forward to.

Latest report I have seen (Motorcycle Trader) suggest that if it does go ahead it won't be until 2008 (obviously). The Govt has tipped in a massive $2,000,000 for further updates to the track to get it to international A status, but more investment would be required. I've signed the petition (as should've ANYONE here who has even a fleeting interest in bikes) but I'm not holding my breath yet.

That's great that we're getting the A1GP, it'll give the track and NZ a chance to prove itself. From what I can see with where the track status is at, it'll be a year or 2 before we get a chance at hosting the MotoGP. Fingers crossed! I reckon it'll be a winner.
