I read on MotoGP.com that Takahashi broke his arm practicing at Suzuka so will be taking no further part.
Would love to score a copy of the race Rossi and Edwards won together.

if anyone wants an eye opener they have to go to suzuka, it is a town built around a track, awsome stuff, not to mention ferris wheel etc. also, in the surrounding areas there are a bunch of bike shops that would blow your mind, 500 of every item and 15 colours to chose from!!!! TSR racing (they have an NR750 there), Motobum, battlefactory, my mouth is watering already...need to go back!!!!

Hmmmm me getting a cunnign plan
I am planning on heading to japan around this time next year, was hoping to cut it around same time as motogp, but we are planning on climbing mt fuji which is best around july, august, But maybe just go to suzuki 8 hour instead of motogp
Maido
24th July 2006, 15:32
mt fuji is open only one month a year, we had a go at it last time we were there, it doesn't look steep, but you will feel the burn!!! it is very very steep at the top, which is ok cos if you get tired you can stop at one of the many stores on the way up and buy coke of chocolate or cigerettes etc or even oxygen masks!!!! (no joke)
hell of a view also.
we arrived at 4 in the afternoon and were still climbing well past 11.
best to climb at twilight, stay in the back packers at the 9th step and climb to the very top just before sunrise, magic!!!!
Cajun
24th July 2006, 15:47
yeah maido the book i got says you climb at night to arrive on top by sunrise,
It says july/august that its open and best times to climb
Brian d marge
25th July 2006, 00:12
Took the Enfield up Fuji , ( If I find the photo will post )
Fuji is nice and yes you do have to climb through the nite, anyway Motegi ..Let me know if you want to go next year, Its good , but expensive , 2000 yen for car park 3000 yen for highway fee, and 20 000 yen for entrance ( We stood on the car roof ..
BUT the hamburger at the indi burger place is about the closest to a NZ burger you will get
Oh and DONT BRING THE WIFE , bring a small black book and a pen ,,,cause the race queens ....

Racing Girls? Now THATS what I'm talking about~! :yes:
...anyway, back to the Suzuka: I can't find where the link is for streaming the Realvideo???
Apparently they are going to be streaming the whole race and from various angles. Viewers will be able to change camera angles etc. Nice!
But how?
Don't suppose Brian'D or someone else can find out how, or post the exact link to put into my player, could they? :sunny:
Looking forward to it~!

ROAD RACING - Suzuka Live!

Touch That Dial
The Suzuka Circuit will make Internet history on Sunday by hosting the first live, multi-channel Internet broadcast of the Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours for fans around the world.
“Television broadcasting is limited,” explained Suzuka Circuit General Manager Tetsuo Mihara. “This system, users can change cameras and enjoy. This is the first one, anywhere in the world, in motor racing that users can watch on the PC and switch cameras. It has not been done in car racing.”
Best of all, the system is completely free. No registration or special software is required, though users will need to have Real Player installed on their computer. Surfers with a 300 kbps or better connection to the internet can enjoy high-quality broadband video, while others with analog modems or ISDN lines below 128 kbps can watch through a narrowband connection.
Once connected to the Suzuka 8 Hours web stream site, www.8tailive.com (www.8tailive.com)– ‘tai’ is Japanese for ‘endurance’, users can select from five fixed camera locations, and the Japanese television network feed. One the right side of their PC screens Suzuka will update current running order and lap times.
Fans in Japan that own the latest hi-tech cell phones with color LCD displays can watch the 8 Hours live on the phone!
“These years we have a lot of television broadcasting, motorcycle race and car race, in Japan,” said Mihara-san. “Since last year the streaming technology has improved. I am very interested in the streaming technologies. If we can, I want to broadcast all over the world through the personal computers. So I studied about the streaming technologies since last year. I asked a Japanese company, J-Stream, about the streaming technology, and another company, Trans Cosmos. J-Stream is the biggest company about streaming technology in Japan. They have a big streaming computer server.”
According to Mihara, J-Stream predicts that they can host 600,000 broadband viewers in Japan. How many broadband viewers can watch outside of Japan is unpredictable due to bottlenecks in various regions on the web. Whatever the actual number turns out to be is not important at this point. “This technology is for the future,” said Mihara.
While the race is in progress a team of 11 people and 24 computers will be providing the video and lap data to the web site. The personnel and hardware have all been organized in just three months. Honda and J-Stream are providing financial support for the project.
“If we had more time – two weeks or one month – we could have tried multiple on-board cameras,” explained Mihara. “And allow users to switch on-board cameras. But this is the first time. Maybe next year … or maybe even this month for the Suzuka 1000 km sports car race.”
The live streaming begins at 11 a.m. August 4 in Japan, with a race start at 11:30 a.m. That converts to 10:30 p.m. EST, 9:30 p.m. CST, 8:30 p.m. MST, and 7:30 p.m. PST.

It gives me hope when I see some people "getting" how truely liberating new technology can be.
Shame they're using freaking realmedia. If necessary though I'll boot up my old windows drive and watch it on that.
Bring it on. Would be cooler still if they had multiple language audio chanels. Just as you'll be able to choose between camera angles, you should be able to choose between the language for your commentary.
Might have to send them a big "good on you" email and include that suggestion. Will be nice next year with the onboard cameras too.

The strange thing is that Yes Japan is computer leader sort of thing , but most of the people I know dont use computers My wifes friends all text on phones , and only the men use computers and of those it tends to be a few younger men
But did you see what happened to Ess Tv , they were forced to close by the big guns
The writing is on the wall for TV NZ , pay to view or free cast NO adverts and content that you control
Bye TV NZ

Still no sight of the supposed 'free' streaming Suzuka racing and there's only 10 hours left 'till race time!
That www.8tailive.com just seems to take me to the main suzuka site (all in Japanese I might add) anyway.
Thanks for the YahooBB link BD, but that's also all in Japanese (if it were in Korean I might have had a chance...)

I'm in Korea - same time zone as Japan.
It's 9:40am here right now. Race shouldn't be going off until 11:30am.
Maybe the counter uses your local time settings???

Quick basic Jap numbers.
Ban: Means number.
1/ Ichi
2/ Ni
3/ San
4/ Shi or Yon
5/ Go
6/ Roku
7/ Shichi (Spelling may be wrong) or Nana
8/ Hachi
9/ Ku
10/ Ju
11 = Ju Ichi
15 = Ju Go
22 = Ni Ju Ni
30 = San Ju
45 = Yon Ju Go
74 = Nana Ju Yon
90 = Ku Ju
(see the pattern?)
So Edwards (if they say his number) is Yon Ju Go Ban.
Hope that helps with the commentry!

If you look at that list it appears Haga and Edwards only lasted until lap 4, did they crash out or engine failure?
#7 is Tamada and Kiyonari, on the bike, think Kiyo was on and tumbled. Kinda surpised they dont have to go and get rescrutineered after a crash?

Here is colin Edwards (http://www.suzukacircuit.jp/8tai/entry/teams/yamahablue/index.html) team profile
I see everyone has calmed down !! into the 4th hour
The streaming could be a bit better , I get locally 33MBps and the music channel is clear as the tv, this is a little slow , clear but the screen could be bigger
It must be hot there , here in the room its 36 and 65 percent humidity. I have an Ice pack strapped around me head , and the aircon is on full !
On a lighter note , me mate who raced at the 7 hr in Motegi, was 48th 0ut of 64 after crashing repairing the bike then crashing again and retiring ..late in the race
Hope it was worthwhile !

Tamada was on a Hell charge for a while there. Hadn't seen him throw a bike around like that since 2004 (bit harsh maybe).
He gave a brilliant "fuck you!" to a lapped rider who wouldn't get out of his way. Went round the outside on the next corner and just cut his nose off. Lapped loser had to sit it straight up. Think he got the message.
Thanks again for this Brian. While I still would have watched the 100k version it wouldn't have been anywhere near as enjoyable.
There's a beer here for you if you're ever down this way.

Who IS Tamada's teammate. I mean I know his name, but know nothing about him.
Currently he's riding like a demon. Anyone see that move with the two backmarkers under breaking?
Hard to believe they've been going at it for 6 1/2 hours the way this guys riding.
He's been racing in BSB, hes the young guy who filled in on the Telefonica bike after Kato's death. He's been real fast in BSB last couple of years, rumoured to be heading to WSBK next year.

Team seven stars no seven is putting down 2.10 laps , FCC tsr are putting down 2.12 laps ....It will be down to crashes or pit stops I reckon
Ghost Lemur
30th July 2006, 22:10
FCC (#778) have a lap on everyone. So unless somethings goes wrong I think with 30 mins to go they've got it won.
Would still like to see Tamada make it to the podium. Kiyonari needs to be given another MotoGP tryout if his performance today is anything to go by. That boy is fast. And more importantly hungry.
It really is a shame they don't race at Suzuka anymore, It such a special track. What happened to Kato was tragic, but it was also a freak occurance. I'd say Suzuka is still a hell of a lot safer than Leguna Seca. Least the track doesn't disintergrate in less than a weekend. While I love the Corkscrew, and think an American round is important I don't think Leguna Seca will ever be suitable again as a modern GP track.

Bloody good race.
Takeshi Tsujimura & Shin'ichi Itoh (#778 F.C.C. TSR ZIP-FM Racing Team) really did run a perfect race. Flawless. Deserved winners.
I enjoyed watching Tamada & Kiyonari most though.
Damn that was fun. Same again next year folks?
