My Lady and I left Nelson this morning at 0730 in the cage heading for home in Tauranga, and talk about Cops everywhere! We saw 19 (NINETEEN!)seperate Patrol/Camera Vehicles - all betwen Wellington and Tga! Included were 2 bikes (R1150RT's) on Porirua Motorway working with 4 cars in the same spot - possibly practising trainees from the College, but booking people - a new white Commodore ute with canopy (God Squad) following then pulling over a truckie, then patrol cars in every spot you could think of.
We were VERY happy with the Escort Radar Detector in the Altezza for the day - saved us many times, including Desert Rd! A Rodeo passed us at one point - 120km/hr plus, without a Radar detector - braver then me - sure enough, in Waikanae, he's busted!
A few days earlier travelling thru the Rai Valley in the dark, the Detector went berserk - a sound like a cellphone I hadn't heard before - and sure enough there was the Smokie in the dark with a hand-held LAser, parked next to the 50km/hr sign - in the middle of nowhere, wanker.Talk about revenue collecting - and on a Monday!
Still, 1650 Km round trip, 12 hours home today, including ferry crossing and lunch/gas stops - and NO TICKETS! Nah nah na nah nah
