Overhyped bullshit for people that like music becuase it's "angry" and it shows their parents that they don't have to listen to their rules.

Don't like the whole band but believe that a few of the musicians (well two) are very good at what they do.
Joey Jordison: Plays drums for Slipknot and lead guitar for The Murderdolls. If you've seen disaster pieces then you will know that he is an absolutely amazing drummer. He can defy gravity and keep playing whilst not missing a beat. He is an absolute machine on drums; and is known in the drumming world as 'the machine' by a lot of people. Although his style of drumming is very unique and quite hard to listen to, once you're into it then you'd be surprised at actually how much technique and skill is required to be the backbone of a metal band with 9 members.
Corey Taylor: Vocalist in Slipknot and vocalist n Stone Sour. He may not be the best singer in the world but he has a certain way with words that can catch someone's ear. Also, to go from the hard out metal that slipknot was and produce a song with Stone Sour called Bother, just by himself with an acoustic guitar is pretty amazing. Most 'metal heads' or 'bogans' couldn't turn away from the beloved 'metal' to play even one acoustic song. But then Slipknot's 3rd album, Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses comes out and I listen to it right through. At least 4 tracks are light and very 'un-Slipknot like'.
I'm not saying that I like Slipknot here, because quite frankly, I don't. But some of the musicians in that band are extremely talented.

Agreed... They're alright... wouldn't pay to go to their concert, but I love Vermillion Part 2 :)
Edit: I "think" I have one of their CD's... Sam went to The Warehouse and brought me a Slayer CD (God Hates Us All) and the actuall CD in the Cover was not the Slayer CD... I couldn't figure out who it was, but I'm assuming it's Slipknot cause it has Vermillion Part 2 on it... but its an acoustic version... so I don't know lol And yes I kept the incorrect CD because it has a few alright songs on there

Love em!
come on! think Avril Larvrine, so angry, so rebelious, such a rebel, born wild, her music is so hard, her voice so good, just like the MTV Metallica thing. :nono:
i hate my parents, being a middle class white kid is so hard, no no one understands me, high school forever.....blablablaaaa....
but seriously
my favourite band would be Buckcherry. (sounds like aerosmith with AC/DC and the datsuns)
sex - drugs - rock n roll.
no whining, no issues, no pain, just having excess fun.:first:

Duality is a wicked fucken song to listen to just before a ride.
Like a few of thier songs and alost of Stone Sour's aswell. Not many good metal bands comming out now a days, speacially down here in hippy tree hugging NZ
Might see if I can get Slash and Allun to post up one song from each of their bands though. Good stuff. (can't wait for BLS now Seb!!)
Carver, metal music is not always about the words. Most of the time it's just for the energy you get from a song. vocals are just there as one more instrument.

Too bad it's their only good song.

I like 'em tho they are not one of my favourite bands. They are very good at what they do, and I like the fact that they are so very different to most of the crap that is out there these days.
I find their 'Lord of the Flies' image and violent angry music very cathartic.

I saw Slipknot for the first time at the BDO two years ago. Was a wicked show.
on a related note there's a very interesting interview with Corey Taylor here:]

Ya know, I actively disliked Slipknot a few years ago, until what typically happens with people and bands happenned to me.....
People will usually start liking a band that they never thought they would like because something like one of the following occurs:
1. they hear a song they DO like and go "wow maybe I should actually give this band a chance - they have at least one good song, let's see if there are any more"
2. they see the band live, maybe as support for the band they paid to see, or by chance at a venue or whatever, and go "wow maybe I should actually give this band a chance - they ROCK live, perhaps they just haven't translated well onto recording yet"
3. they read/see/hear background info about the band, and maybe a cause that the band helps or a viewpoint/philosophy of the band or some members speaks to them, and they go "wow maybe I should actually give this band a chance - they share my views/philosophies/shoe size"
For me, I heard that one song that you find you do like, (didn't even realise it was Slipknot at the time) and which prompted me to go looking for more. I found that the songs that other people had played me just happenned to all be the songs i didn't like - and I still don't like some songs, but hey, that's OK!
hXc is spot on with comments on Joey and Corey, those 2 guys are the band for me. :headbang:Mr scary iron mask guitarist guy seems very proficient (hey, I'm a drummer, what do I know!) but the others seem like filler.
I saw them at the BDO, they kicked ASS. You have to be fairly respected to get the entire floor of ericcson stadium in front of the stage down on the ground on command....
Another one is the Green Day DVD that came out recently - I kinda liked Green Day before seeing that DVD, but maaaaate I would love to see them live after seeing the show they are capable of!

Lordy, the Finnish band that won the Eurovision Song Contest did a good job of exposing these "theme bands" as the talent free marketing puppets they are
