for a while its been doing this off and on, its changed a little but more or less its a click or a pop

it doesnt come in for I think about 20 seconds

the noise seems to generate around the radiator/plugs area (pls not the cyclinders, pls not the cylinders, pls not the cylinders)

Or maybe a leaking header.

To my ears it doesn't sound metal related so I'm thinking leaking gases because it also doesn't appear to be 100% in sync with your engine rpm.

Have you done a compression test?
Spark plug threads stripped?

Be leaning towards a leak somewhere as well.

The MC22 is a gear drive, does not have a tensioner. We have a used gear drive set for $190, or new, for $400 (would have to order, subject to availability Regards M

how can I find out if the header is leaking?

Hold your hand near the manifold (junction between cylinder block and headers) and see if you can feel gas poofing out. Do this when the bike's cold. It may just be that one of the manifold bolts or studs has backed off a little and needs re-tourqing. Check where the headers meet the collector as well and see if it's leaking there. If it is you can feel the gas escaping.

Best done when cold also.

thanks fp,
I replaced the sparks a while ago and it might have developed from that, I will check them tonight.

I havent done a compression test, dont know how (looking it up atm)

your right its not synced to the rpm, not at all,

also, hard to explain, but this morning when I was starting it I noticed the pop would cause the idle to slow. sortof like this
38403
although said popping was erratic, (IE: the time between pops wasnt the same)
