For those flightsim buffs not in the know Microshaft has just released a playable demo of their new Flight Simulator.

This one has proper missions, much better realism in an 'atmospheric' way with animals, cars, and boats all on the move. Airports are a huge upgrade with ground service vehicles going to and fro on the ground.

Also features an ATC mode where you can do the directing. Looks like a vast improvement on previous versions, and the detail in the landscapes looks like they have used some proper satellite maps, not sure if this goes as far as NZ however.

There is one mission where you drop flour bags on to targets, so im guessin there is going to be some room for 'improvement' on this side of things :blip:

One of my favourite parts of it so far is the addition of a Red Bull Air Race setup which looks like a lot of fun.

Get the 800mb demo here (http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulatorx), aswell as some comparison pics between FS9/FSX to see the improvements, also some details on missions and the other improvements too.

Is Eden Park one of the targets?

Thanks for the link. I hate these things because I waste soooooooo much time (unlike KB!) so I try to avoid but will have a sneaky peak.

LOL...I had the opp to have a play in the ATC training facility at Ohakea a few years back. Four of us were the aircraft, 4 were ATCrs. Within seconds our mission as ATCs was to 'fly the planes into each other'.

Good times, good times.

Dammit - I was hoping for an inflight Stimulator... 12 hours to LAX would be a lot less unattractive...

The Microsoft Flight Stimulator series were fun for about 10 minutes. Il2 - Sturmovik fogotten battles on the other hand, you get to blow shit up. :D
