I picked up a flyer for this rally at Dunedin bike shops today. I notice its not on the Chatto Creek website list of events - which is understandable given that it clashes with their 1000 miler!! (or were you trying to keep this one quiet Jantar?)
Is this a new one? Says it is organised by the Whitestone Motorcycle Touring Club.
Oldrider do you have anything to do with this one?
I'll post the details if anyone wants them.

Ok here goes
Entries close for pre paid on 24 Nov - $25, on the day $30
Tent sites only, live band Sat night, licensed booth (yeah like that would be left out?) Food available on site, lunch dinner & breakfast available at Duntroon Hotel, site security, free tea and coffee, no fires glass or dogs (does that include scumdogs?), no EFTPos, no cars on site, no refunds , ROAR
Entries to Jo Hull, 2 Hull St, Oamaru.
The event is sponsored by Kawasaki - I rang the lady today to let her know that there wasn't any prices on the flyer - the kAWASAKI sponsor stuff had been put over the top of it before they printed!
Location is Duntroon Domain - 35km inland from Oamaru.
Thats about it apart from the usual disclaimer stuff

I have never heard of this one before. I'll certainly add it to the Chatto Creek Programme.

Yep, I have been to a few but only on a day trip, have not camped over.

It is run by the North Otago clubs combined but under the Whitestone Motorcycle Touring Club control. (I think)

I have not been involved in the organisation of it myself but my late close friend used to be. I will find out at next months Ulysses club meeting.

There are so many events on these days it is hard to plan your way around them all, that's why I have asked about an annual listing for both islands.

I thought I had seen one on here but can't find it. Cheers John.

This rally is pretty close time/place to the proposed KB Mt Cook rally, maybe KB could use it in lieu of the Mt Cook one for a get-together, thoughts?

Just contemplating a ride down to Oamaru tomorrow if all go's well, I will be calling in to your street so will say g'day. John

PS: will you be about or out riding?

Sounds like a reasonable option to me. John.

Want to watch my grandaughter play netball in the morning then go to Oamaru Honda then round to see how Danny got on at ten pin bowls, just after lunch.
Hope thats not too early, I was a shift worker for 28yrs, so I understand.
Hopefully I will see you tomorrow then. John.

Is anyone going to this?
I'm still trying to work out if I can go to either or both this and the KB run.

I'm really hanging out to get to a rally at the moment.

In all honesty I'm jealous but I do kind of wish they would stop trying to make political statements and just play their music.

This rally is the same date as all the BRONZ charity toy runs around the country as well. BRONZ Otago has its Xmas do on the Sat night too. I am expecting to do the toy run but not the other - anyone else doing the Dunedin Toy run?

Yep, should be there. Watch for two short-arses on a Virago......

What time does the Toy Run start/finish?
And is there enough time for a person to do it AND go to the Long Drop?

Ruralman
27th November 2006, 21:25
The toy run is advertised to start at 1:30 from Carey's Bay - apparently Dunedin riders have often done both, even going up to the rally on Friday, back for the toy run on Sat and then back to the rally. There are a couple of alternative routes you can take to add interest.
Still seems a bit silly BRONZ Otago organizing their Xmas do for the Sat night though.

So who's going????

And yeah Ruralman, shame about the BRONZ Xmas do on the same night - after the Winchester/Burt Munro rally clash I'm hoping it's not starting a trend.

I'm meeting a mate who owns the south end of Milton 4 square (ie not the one by the kink in the road at the North end) just after 12 noon on Sat outside his shop and will ride through to the careys bay get together from there.
Its meant to finish around 3- 3:30 in the Octagon so there'll be plenty of time to ride up to Duntroon. Sat looks like the weather will be good as well.
Hadn't decided what to do for lunch - maybe a steak at the Westside cafe' in Milton before leaving?
Talked to W'Bee last night - she's going to the toy run and will either meet up with us en route or catch up at Carey's Bay.
Does this suit SD? and is there anyone else coming from down South or central?
(I presume Jantar will be racing around the Sth Isalnd somewhere on the Chatto Creek 1000 miler)
