it seems that old gn250 (90's and 80's) have pretty shite speedo and tacho cables. I know the new gn250's have chunkier ones that work better so if your on an old gn250, dont be suprised if your speedo or tacho stop working!

Yeah?? Who woulda thought...on a bike anything up to 26 years old, that a cable might break?? Shesh - they just don't make cables like they useta...
Seriously, cables don't last forever and the people that ride/rode Gn's for the most part don't maintain them all that well.

I've owned my '86 GN for three months now, and all the cables on the machine have broken in that time; tacho, accel, clutch. Thank god it doesn't have brake cables, otherwise that woulda snapped too!
It's not a problem tho, only $25 for a new one.

Had a GN as my first bike (86 Model) went through a spedo and clutch cable. No big deal, as stated above its called maintanence, it happens

If the speedo cable on a GN snaps you're better off popping into a cycle shop and fitting a cycle computer to it - it's more accurate and has loads of cool features.

dude... cycle computer...
Maintance aint an issue, if you own a bike, maintain it (even if it costs a little)
The only thing that pissed me off is that i replaced the speedo cable, and then the next day my tacho cable broke... BAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!
