Got the entry form and supplementary regs from the Wanganui Club today. Though a few people might be interested, so I've posted them on the Vic Club site (http://www.vicclub.co.nz/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=272).

Just reading the regs:
Super Motard machines shall elect to ride in one of the following Classes, F3, BEARS, (If Eligible) or Super Motard. Final eligibility decisions rests with the organisers, whose decision shall be final.
Very interesting. That will rip a few motards up. Wonder what class they will all decide to ride in. Might hit the F3 numbers a bit.
Also this bit:
Super Motard riders please Note:
There is a possibility that a dirt section may be added to this years Super Motard Races.
Maybe shortcut it through the cemetary? Jump a few grave stones maybe???

heard the off road bit would be down in the train yard - where the pits used to be. a short cut through the cemetery would be cool, but somehow i don't think that would go down too well

Yeah that is sometimes a problem with motards. I'm sure they will make it as safe as possible cause I know you wouldn't be the only rider complaining if that was the case. Will have to see how they set it up. Normally they make the transition on a side road that isn't used as part of the main track to keep the dirt as far away as possible from the track.

WTF? I've been planning to do Wanganui for ages. I don't race competitively anymore but I would like to do Wanganui for a bit of fun cause I haven't done it before (I've only done Paeroa BOS). That's the only reason I'm racing next month. To get a feel for race pace again.

Must have done 3 sancioned race meetings before you can race at the nationals or on the streets.
There is no clause in the rule book stating this year or any year, just 3 race meetings to prove your competant

Nationals too? Even in Clubmans? FUCK!!!!!!! FUCK FUCK FUCK! I'm screwed..............
I was gonna go down and do the Teretonga and Levels rounds (Clubmans), even had my better half looking forward to a week of cruising down South for a week with a race meeting either end.
I'm gonna have a look at the regs and see if this applies to the noobie Clubmans class, unless someone else knows off the top of their head.
Fuck this "take it like a man" shit, I'm going off to cry like a baby.......

Hi
Yes, you are able to race at Wanganui but enter as a first time rider at Wanganui. This will require you to have a few laps of the circuit behind a rider experienced riding at Wanganui. Usually there a few riders who have to do this.
Looking forward to receiving your entry
Regards
This is from the Organiser.
Wooohoooo, I'm soooo happy!!! Otherwise I was seriously going to flag it for this year cause I've only got a budget to race 1ce or twice this year for any given race.
Can't wait!!

It's 100% fair enough! If you're racing motard, just because your bikes eligible for F3 and bears etc, leave them to it.
Otherwise every class looks like 1/2 fucking motard, and the way some guys ride their moto-x bikes it must really fuck a lot of riders of road race bikes off.

Not complaining at all, will make it alot easier on someone like myself racing in F3. After nearly getting clotheslined by one last year I'd be very happy to have an F3 class with normal racing bikes. Sadly this year I won't be able to attend. Maybe next year.

I'll be there in Post Classic Jnr and F3.
Get my third meeting under my belt at Taupo next weekend. I think that rule is a bit unfair though - maybe it should be 6 races to qualify you for Wangas - if racing in two classes you are getting 2x the track time as someone only entering one class, yet still have to go to three meetings.

the whole part about having to complete 3 meetings is because the street races are more dangerous than the track - there is no run-off etc.
in the UK a 'novice' rider must complete (that means cross the line, DNF's etc don't count!) 15 races at club level before being allowed any where near any sort of national level event. and you have to wear your bright orange bib the whole time. In the US and AUS you have to pass written and practical tests before you can get your license.
it's easy NZ. Don't knock it - but it'll change if there's too many numpty's on the track.
Deano - you might want to check the PostClassic regs. 'Normal' post classic is Pre-82

I can understand the safety issues - but if you're entering two classes at each round, you are getting twice the track time as someone only entering one class......yet it isn't considered that way ??

and twice as likely to crash :shake:
seriously though, your logbook doesn't record each individual race that you complete - only the meetings that you attend. How else are they supposed to check it?

Crashing ?
Couldn't the steward or whoever just write the classes entered into the logbook ? Seems simple enough really.
I don't really mind, but it's not really indicative of experience to say three meetings minimum, if you have entered two classes at each meeting.

Even so someone like say Mikey is never gonna be safe no matter how many meeting he has done and you are safe even if you had done no meetings. And its not like they have time to do it on a case by case basis. or do you think they should do it like they do in the UK? make you wear a high vis and sit a test?

I'm just suggesting that the present criteria is not representative - you have to have entered at three meetings before competing at Wangas, but there is no dispensation for those that have entered in two classes at each meeting, THUS gaining sufficient experience earlier than those that enter only one class per meeting.

So when there is a 22 lapper at manfeild that should count as two races rather than one?

Now you're just being pedantic...but no it wouldn't because that is what constitiuted that particular race meeting.
Enter two classes = equivalent to 2 meetings.

But every meeting is different, race tracks are different lengths, races are different number of laps. Who is to say that entering 2 classes at 1 meeting gives you any more experience than 1 class at another? You might get more racing laps in your single class meeting. What do you want - a fixed number of racing kilometers completed?? What happens if I do a single 6 hour meeting? Odds are I'd have done more racing in that time than your 3 meetings with 2 classes.
It's got to be something that's simple and easy to administer and easy to check up on. The current system does that.

It was just an observation, but yes I thought a set number of races would have sufficed. Still simple.

fair point. that's how it works in the UK. You need to complete 15 races as a novice. However the opportunity for cross entry is much less, although clubs often run a 'novice' all-in race to help you get through the period quicker.
It took me a whole season to get rid of my bib, that was with entering all rounds in KDMC series in scotland and travelling down to england to do a few events as well.
