View Full Version : Torque - The Movie

Anyone seen it? My flatmate got it out on DVD. It's produced by the same guys who made XXX and The Fast and The Furious.
Got some amazing stunt riding in it too! The best part was the Aprilia RSV 1000 being chased by the Triumph Daytona 955i. (You could tell what they were courtesy of the multitude of closeups of the bike graphics, and the "gangland" characters wearing matching branded race leathers) Anyway, they get to jump these two superbikes onto a moving passenger train that has aluminium skinned carriages, racing across the roofs jumping from carriage to carriage.
Then there's the "carbon fibre" bike that's "powered by a helicopter engine" and "goes from 0-200km/hr in 10 seconds".

I'm not quite sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but that bike does actually exist. Its the Y2K made by an outfit in the states. Comes with a 400km/h guarrantee- no one has claimed the money back!! Jay Leno has one, and I believe theres a couple of threads on it round here somewhere
PS I quite liked the movie- of course its not real life, what'd be the point of hollywooding it up then? You dont go to the flicks to watch some guys boring life story do ya now?

The only part of that movie thats any good is where Martin Henderson embarrasses those clowns racing their cars. The rest of the movie was a load of crap.

The blond chick was hot.
The some of the riding scenes through the winding desert roads were cool.
Mostly I just liked the blond chick.

that movie was so full of shit, that dude that directed that needs to get a physics degree.
I mean going down crowded streets at 200+, swerving around vehicles...
how about the fight scene with those 2 girls on their bikes..

I only got this far twice then had to go for a ride.
I like the bit with the geeky harley rider too. That was funny.

Tragic movie but good for a laugh. It would have been better if the blonde chick took her top off.

I believe the bike exists, it's just the way thet were talking about it. What got to me was the animated right angle turn the "hero" did. Looked like something out of Batman. The movie was entertaining in it's own right, but I expected it to be better especially after the opening chase scene.

that was gonna be my point.
Frankly I was ashamed that I watched the whole movie. I'm surprised that anyone could actually rate the movie, specially anyone who knows anything about bikes, physics or what makes a good movie, biker boy's wasn't much better but it wasn't as bad as Torque. The people who made that or had anything to do with it, should focus their time on new episodes of Barney.

Biker boys/Torque are up their with the worst movies ever made. They give the general public a twisted fucked up view of biking with sub standard plots and ridiculous special effects that seem to replace far too much dialog.
The same way that Fast & the F...Gay, did for cars.
All shit, I'd never pay to see any of em, hence why I downloaded Torque and promptly realised i'd wasted my bandwidth.
Incidentally why would you call a bike movie "Torque"? Perhaps a topfuel dragster or tractor pulling movie, but bikes aren't exactly known for mountains of it, no matter how modified, especially compared to cars.....

point i was making is that splitting traffic at 200+ kph is possible and has been proven by GR

but the splitting is more like doing queen st at 5pm at 200kph..ya know...the Y2k scene...
lane splitting aint that hard, if its in a reasonably straight line

i probably should do the same,in all his movies the actors have huge ego's, everything to prove, which is always settled by racing or fights, and there are always a endless supply of skanky ho's ready to be picked up and show cleavage wherever possible...

Some say it gives the general public a bad view of biking. Let me make this clear, no member of the general (meaning in this context 'non-motorcyclists') public know of these movies let alone saw them.

And if it was not for KB I wouldn't have heard of most movies of that ilk.
H-D and the Marlboro Man was a nice light-hearted bike movie that's not been mentioned yet (well not on the last page which is the only one iI've looked at.)

right on, that was a good movie...
in torque the lead "bad guy" rides a yamaha roadstar warrior...in one part they call it a Hog!
and it chases the Y2k down city streets at 200+ kph with ape hangers!
he musta had the upper body strength of a Gorrilla!

Shit movie... dirt bikes pretending to be road bikes, imposible stunts and pussy gangsters.
Biker boyz is OK, still not great... hollywood needs to get real when it comes to bike movies...
Fastest Indian is the best I've seen... given I've done alot of beach racing it was extra extra extra extra extra good for me:cool:

Best bike movie is Faster, the doco about the last year of the 500's in GP Racing. Awesome and insightful, with lots of cool interviews with some of the greatest riders of all time.
A new one coming out soon by the same guy, a doco on the USGP with Edwards, Rossi and Hayden.
But yeah fastest indian was a goodie and home grown makes it better. Definately shows the madness of bikers in a good light and would sum up a lot of KBers too :)

One of my favourite scenes is near the beginning where all 3 of them take off from the roadside diner on those bikes stunting and cutting up the highway...

Torque was crap ,only mildly worse then " Biker boyz " Why did it take a 400k bike so long to catch up to a Harley ? and when I go fast round corners my bike leans over . Does anyone remember "Stone"?
