Below is a post from a guy in Wellington on an Aprilla Forum, he purchased his Factory RSV from Auckland, and had nothing but crap service and headaches from the dealer up there.

As some Wellie riders now know, TSS have just got into dealing in the awesome Aprilla range.

Needless to say, he has been having trouble with the bike running lean, ever since he changed the exhaust pipes.

This is the best bit of servicing I've ever heard about in the Wellington Region. Good on Ya TSS, you've just got my service!

"HOLY CRAP! I just got 664585 loaded and it's totally transformed the bike. I can now run the bike without baffles and there's significantly less engine braking when closing the throttle. It still seems slightly lean which I'm confident will be resolved by the PCiii.

I'm a very happy chappy.............YAY.

I'm also very optomistic about TSS (the dealer). I was their first customer with a 1000cc Aprilia as they've been focused on the 750 Motard. I jokingly said I should get a discount since I was the guinea pig. His response............nah mate, you can have it for FREE!!! Now that's what I call taking care of the customer!

So, the bike is running DNA air filter with Ti Arrow slip-ons. Map 664585 is loaded running on variant 2.

What can I do next!!"

Whats new? TSS is the best dealer in lower hutt full stop. possibly the best dealer in town. Motomart treated me like a kid and took advantage of me and it was hard to even get service there let alone get them to talk to me. (exception being Martin aka sparky_bills of course)

Motorcycles dealers are like wives.

You get great service for a while and then they start to let you down.

Can't comment on TSS, still in the honeymoon.

When getting my RSV-R, I had a bad run with the Aprilia dealership in Auckland (which started as soon as my cash had been handed over, and went steadily downhill over the following couple of weeks). I refuse to give them another cent, so now I take the bike to Strada in Tauranga for servicing. Its a fair distance to go, and the workmanship has not been flawless from them, but they treat me like a valuable customer and go out of their way to fit me in and make sure I'm happy.

Have also dealt once with AMPS on a minor issue (even though they are no longer an authorised dealership), and found them good as well, fitting me in at short notice despite a busy schedule.

WRT, Dafe and I had the same experience in Wellington. As soon as the money was handed over, they didn't want to know us. In one day we had spent near on $45k, and what service did we get for that???

NONE!!!

Not even a phone call to ask how things were going. Needless to say, I have taken my bike over to Dave Andersons in Masterton. They do a really good job on the bike - mainly because the guys like seeing something other than a dirt bike covered in Cowpoos!

But if I need a service I can ring them up on a wednesday or thursday. Ride over the hill on Saturday morning, drop the bike off, have breakfast, take a demo out for a ride. Then the bikes are ready by lunchtime. They are really good guys also to deal with, and if I look for another GSXR, I certainly will be doing the deal with them.

Everyone has bad days - If you don't like the service, tell them - otherwise how will they know/learn ?

Pex, I'd appreciate it if you don't use me as a reference and give me a bad name with local bike dealers. I personally don't run down any company in a public forum. I prefer to only mention those that satisfy me.

I'm a believer that everybody will find a shop to suit their needs, how can everyshop always offer you the same level of satisfaction? Different shops have different strengths due to different levels of experience, different products & merchandise, different financial positions and different people. Just shop at the ones you like!

My experiences with WMCC has seen me very satisfied with two salesman in particular. They've always been as helpful as they possibly could have been and I'm grateful for their help. I''ve been more than happy with their sales service. Thanks Pete & Hamish!

Mate, you're an absolute pleasure to deal with!
Regarding what Deano said.....if you ever do have an issue of any sort, please let us know. Far easier to fix something that's not right when we know about it! Garry and Steve have been in business for over 30 years, and you don't last that long running around shitting on people or ignoring them.

I know there's a fair number of people that think we're too HD orientated, but the only two people there that own them are the owners! The rest of us own/ride/race Suzukis!!

I think everyone on here has the right to talk about their experiences when dealing with shops and service - all we want is the best service, value for money, and not to treated like pieces of dog meat. However if you like been treated that way, then by all means do what ever the hell you like... You always do!

Fair Call Pete, I understand where your coming from. However I personally would like you to look at this as a forum on how we all could do better. Don't you think if you asked me when I bought the bike 'when do you think that you'll have the 1000k up?' we'll book you in and get you back out on the road, where you belong. That would have improved the relationship?

It just maybe something that the people like me appreciate...

Anyways, let me remind you why I have never mentioned who I purchased my bike from. I never started this tread to shit on anyone, it was started because I was overwhelmed to hear that TSS had gone the extra mile to help out a guy who was struggling with his bike. Something I would have appreciated:weep: :weep: :weep:

Motomart are a curious bunch. I think the service is pretty good if you truck up holding $20k in cash actually in your hand, but otherwise they suck. Example: I have two friends looking to get into biking. Way keen. Both are in their early 30's, professionals, not yet right in the thick of the "twinky" thing but not exactly short a bob or two either. They both pitched up to motomart (in a late model MX-5 to make it clear they like to spend money on toys with wheels) and were completely ignored. They're now a bit pissed because it means they can't go to the shop and buy VTR250's ... new.

TSS, on the other hand welcomed them like old friends.

Curiously enough when it was my turn to be a newbie I did manage to get some attention from motomart, test rode a VTR250 and declared it to be glorious but not $5k better than the other bike I rode (at TSS). Likewise WMCC were helpful and didn't bat an eyelid when I kinda didn't really like the GN250 I rode.

So, YMMV. I think the lesson is that you need to speak up in bike shops because they get 99.9% tire kickers and it's difficult to spot the ones that aren't.

And I have no problem with you voicing your opinion, but at the same time, I'd rather you voice them to us first. If we then did nothing about it, you'd have every right to put us down here!

I'm pretty sure you didn't buy your bike from me, as I'd like to think my after sales service and follow up is pretty good. I think I 'nearly' sold it to you, but you perhaps purchased it from one of the 'not named' guys. This may well have been cause you'd rather not have dealt with me, and that's fine too, but should you feel the need to get well looked after, try me next time.

These people suck, these people are great, these people dont like me...

You cant make everyone happy, there are many different opinions out there.
Go to who you think is good. Plain and simple!

As we have said before..
Its soo much easier for people to bitch and complain, but when something good actually happens its unheard of.

So good one the people giving praise! (dont care who its for)

But if your consistantly bad mouthing others about the same old stuff, it just gets boring.

no customers no buisness no job. its that simple.

As a total bike enthusiast I'm happy talking shit all day about bikes. To buyers or fellow enthusiasts, simply because that's what I do.
Sometimes, we get so busy we can't get to everyone. Some of those people walk out disgruntled and that's a shame. But despite the fact that some of those disgruntled people think we were simply chatting with 'mates' and couldn't be fucked chatting to them, they'd also be fucked off if we were chatting with them and we 'ditched' them to chat with the 'potentially disgruntled' ones. Hope that makes sense.

Fark me if this thread isn't looking all balanced and sensible. Anyone that's worked in hospo or sales knows how hard dealing with the punters can be (present company excluded of course). You're doing pretty good if you can keep half of the bastards happy. I've got my favorite shop cos when I was getting back into bikes they helped me out and remembered my name. I'll still shop on price at times, or for specific things, but generally I stick with my man. It seems like most shops in Welly have treated me pretty well most of the time. Keep up the good work I say, it's a pretty cut throat business.

totally agree, but when you don't even get acknowledge that is bad, I don't expect a salesman to drop what they are doing to be at my bec and call, a nod or wink is surfice that they have seen me. After that I will go and ask for help...

Indeed it is. I can honestly say that in all of the years I've been in the bike industry that where I am now is the best shop by far customer service wise.

I'm not the bosses puppet. I'd fuck off if I thought I could do better else where. In fact, before starting at WMCC I was a true 'bike shop slut'.
When I came back from Brisbane to start there, all the guys I used to work for had a friendly 'sweepstake' as to how long I'd last there knowing how slack I used to be. But once I got into the groove of trying to be the best I could be in my job (not saying I'm perfect, as none of us are), I found staying at WMCC to be not only easy, but desirable. If you know of anyone else here that's worked for practically every bike shop in Wellington, then let them tell us all I'm wrong.

Imagine if the bike shops could talk about their customers on here too! Now that would be farken funny! BTW Pex, I've always had good service from the WMCC salesman. Peter M always offers to make me a coffee when I come in and Hamish always asks how the bike is going - as he did today!
Just because I've had a past bad experience on the parts counter doesn't mean WMCC are rubbish. The good services of these two salesmen far exceeds the bad dealing of one guy.

Yes, I do whatever the hell I like - I enjoy making my own choices and I'm loving the result!

Well I am going to put 10 cents in as well. When I rang WMCC a year ago I knew I wanted a 600cc something. They had just paid cash for what I am now riding and insisted I had to get on the bus and have a look. I didn't even test ride her once I had seen her. Pete was the salesman and he went out of his way to help, gave me the cheapest insurance possible, extended the warranty two months and I did get reminder notices re WOF etc. Since then I have gone in about tyres and little things and staff have come outside and looked the bike over recommending tyres etc etc. Never a problem. In fact I have to wave them away each time when I just want to browse the bikes in the shop. I have had great service from TSS as well but I want to point out that good service is where you find it in any sort of situation.

Needed WOF last week - didnt want to leave bike in town all daywith hassles of getting back to the bike shop after work etc etc - HA ! Testing station on Basin Reserve.- Rang them, yes come up to 4.30pm for bikes - Left work early, got home checked bike over and attached current reg etc - got there at 3.25pm - Sorry, bike tester leaves at 3.30pm !! WHAT ! Hang on, will check with him. No problems mate, I will do yours before taking off. Now thats bloody good service. Good chat too about the SH** that he gets to see.

Now just saving up for a C service on my bikes since shes at 3000 miles....
Spot you guys soon Pete.

Anyways, I think its great, that people are giving credit to all the various shops, it shows that people are getting their machines looked after, by great people.

Ever since Crasherfromwayback did a great job selling a cheap scooter to my 17 year old daughter, I have total loyalty to him and WMCC. Our family have bought 6 bikes from there, none of them Harleys.

I have found the service to be great even when busy.
Courtesy works both ways, I try to treat sales people decently, and I find that they do that in return.

Hey guys, it's not always easy to please people, I too work as a slave to the public for a lot of my day, and while I do my very best to go the extra mile for my clients, it's not always posible with today's demands.
Im sure all the Welly biker shops want to give you a pleasureable experience, and personally Ive had quite a few bike dealings (as some of you know!) hehe. All of which have given great service. But it's really nice when someone gives you back the service and care which exceeds your personel expectation. Buying a new bike is something special, but my last purchase was made even more pleasureable because of the professional and genuine caring attitude of the team involved. Thanks so much you guys at TSS! I now have my dream bike and you continue to go out of your way to help and make motorcycling all of the fun it meant to be. You followed me there and since that day you're convinced he's the man!
Is that grass not the best for you?

You service your bike at Dave Andersons Suzuki, as did I.
You followed me there! Are you not convinced they're the shit!
Is that grass not good enough for you?

I purchase my bike from whoever makes me happy and whoever gets me what I'm looking for and whoever has the deal that suits me.

But your expert opinion suggests I don't know where the best grass is?
Yet you rave about the two places I introduced you to, the two places you religiously go!
Isn't this plainly obvious to you that you talk a load of shit?

Next time you speak up, give facts - Not bullshit!

Now you claim I play one of against the other? Again you are full of shit!
Pipe up now and tell me when I have ever played one store off against another.......You virtually know every bike deal I've ever made, so if anyone knows, you would.......

This as far as I'm concerned is your credibility on the line here. If you can't back it up, you can basically fuck off!!! I ain't putting up with plain lies in a public forum.

BACKUP YOUR BULLSHIT NOW AND TELL ME WHAT ONE TIME I PLAYED A STORE OFF AGAINST ANOTHER!!!

Dude, If a guy bullshits publicly about a so called mate, he ain't a friend.
I just want to see him prove his word. Whats wrong with that?
Don't you want to see if his word is good?

If you accuse somebody of something in the public, It should at least be true. Not made from plain lies!

I'm no expert, I just choose to deal with the experts, who were able to help when I needed it, not when it suited them. Yes you did introduce me to Dave Andersons, and especially Kerry, and yes they are the bomb, without doubt, why should I go anywhere else when those guys have given me everything I need and more???.

Now if you deal with a guy for three years, a guy who has bent over backwards and takes it up the ass from you in helping you in everyway possible, don't you think you owe him the decency to at least tell him your selling his bike, rather than buggering off to some guys who you haven't spent anywhere near the time with?

Obviously not, you obviously don't value his help, his service, and his friendship, or what he's done for you in the past. You obviously think that when it suits, you'll jump into bed with whoever you like.

Thats playing a guy in my book, and if you don't like it you can fuck off and do whatever the hell you like - you always do!

What did I tell ya all.......

I never played a store off against another!
Pete can't name one time!

He's full of shit as proven.

BTW, I have seen Kerry twice this week and he's agreed to bring me in some arrow pipes when I get my next bike.
I don't shit on Kerry, If I purchase any clothing item, It's through Kerry unless someone else has some unreal deal.

FYI, The day I was in Kerry's shop and relocating his alarm, I was going to tell him. Until you rushed in and blurted your fat mouth off as always.
Dan is proof of that. I told Dan that I was about to tell Kerry, but was worried that Kerry would be dissapointed I was selling my bike.
So again Peter, Your facts are fucked!

Peter you are so full of shit! One big fuck up!

Hahahaaaa - Full of Shit as proven, One big fuck up, I don't shit on Kerry, Your facts are fucked...

All thats proven here, is you brought up a tread that died a month ago, to butter up WMCC, then when someone disagrees with the way you view the world you get all fucken stupid. The fact remains you didn't talk to Kerry, and he was pissed when he found out the bike was on the floor at TSS. THAT IS THE FACTS - SO IF THEY ARE FUCKED, I REALLY CAN"T HELP!

Its your loss!!!

Guys....not that's in any of my business, but it'll be both of your losses if you throw away an obviously old friendship for the sake of a spat over bike shops!

Have a beer, slag us all off, and move on is my advice!

Guys, KB is not real life and not the best place to sort out friendship disagrements (sp?). You were/are best mates for a reason...sort it out in the real world and move on. You dont want to tell fiancees and partners that you 'broke up' on an internet forum. Thats just sad.

...as sad as Dover trying to get free beer anyway.

you should see a very hot and sweaty courier piegon with a dozen steinies in the next couple of days, providing he/she doesn't hit a headwind across the tasman! Of course, being an Ozzie, he could be completely lost and end up somewhere like China so it's not my fault if you end up thirsty!

Fark me, 5 years later and what an astounding read!!!

Just for the record. I still remember that awesome deal WMCC swung us. They organised sequential licence plates for the 3 bikes we purchased that day and then they ran us around Wellington in their van since we didn't have any wheels. They even rang me the second the bike crate arrived so I could lay eyes on it first - Awesome! All those little extras made this a great buying experience.

Since then, Pete McD sold me a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000 which got me back into the bike scene after Uncle B's departure. That was probably the best single bike buy I've ever had. Thanks Pete McD, much appreciated once again. I've now had 7 Suzuki thous. 4 from WMCC and 3 Private. There's only one shop I'll buy a new bike from. The one that gives me the same good ole service - WMCC. :scooter:
