MSTRS and I will be taking in the sights and delights of Welly this weekend. Fatjim has kindly offered to change the sheets on the bed for us so we have a place to stay. It would be a good opportunity to meet some of the Welly crew so if you guys want to suggest a place to meet or a ride that we must do, go right ahead.
Oh, and someone please make sure we have the best weather.

Hey there,
The 1/4 mile sprints will be on Sunday, and a round of racing at Manfield on Sat...guess those are the things that are on bike-wise. Sprints should have a good concentration of welly folk.

When are you coming down and when are you leaving? When we know that we can figure out what to fit in? Dinner, lunch, ride? I could be a starter for any of those. Being an ex-Napier man I wouldn't mind catching up with you.

Call in at Manfeild on your way down, then bowl over to the sprints on Sunday ?
Be good to see you guys again.
I won't be up for much Saturday night sorry, but hey, ya never know - I do have a bit of a rubber arm sometimes.

We are hoping to be there early afternoon on Sat, probably leaving late avo on Sunday, although we may be persuaded to stay an extra night and go home Mon - just don't tell fatjim - he doesn't know that, its our secret so ssh.
Probably won't go to Manfield as hXc is going there. Poor lamb is desperate to get away from his parents for a few days....can you blame him?

Tell him to call into the pits and say g'day. I'm Blue CBR400 # 180 (although you probably can see that)

I'll pass that on to him - he's on the mighty Spada. He's meeting up with RG100

A great weekend. Left here about 9.30 on Saturday after playing musical phones at the telecom shop. The weather was warm and sunny, just perfect for riding. Stopped at the Boots and Braces at Woodville, only to find their annual poker run was that w/e. Bikes for miles, some vey impressive pieces of machinery. About 2 minutes after they all left, Knight rider pulled up on his way to the Bay, was nice to meet you KR, sorry to hear of your bike troubles. We carried on down through the 'rapa. The wind was picking up, especially around Mt Bruce, at times I was thankful that I was not on my own bike.
It lessened as we got further south and the Takas loomed. Fatjim, Colapop and Dartman met us at the top of the hill. Fatjim gave Mstrs the learn on the Takas- well, that was his intention, anyway..
Headed off eventually for coffee at Fatjims place, where he got on the phone and wangled an invite to Uncle B's for a BBQ! Nice to meet some more of the Welly crew and despite a bit of drizzle, it was warm, thanks to the Chimnea thing they had blazing on the deck. Good wine, good food and good company, what more could you ask.
Sunday morning we headed up to The Short Straw cafe for brunch with Jim 2 and family, nice twisty roads, but they are shit condition, potholes etc everywhere. Filled up at Caltex Rimutaka and then caught up with some non biker mates before we headed off to the sprints in Carterton.
Some impressive noises coming from there, and a very fast time posted by a gixxer. Met up with Deano, and Velox again, fatjim of course as well. We also met Vaseline warrior, Crazylittleshit, Limbimtimwim and numerous others. BTW guys, I told hXc Spada wants his bike back - his reply was unprintable!
About 3 we decided we should head for home.
We again ran into that bloody wind around Mt Bruce, combined with rain this time. It was blowing a gale and made for uncomfortable riding. As we left Woodville the wind dropped and the sun came out again, a sure sign we were headed for home....
Flashing lights were out in force just south of Dannevirke, two cages had had a tangle , one was upside down, and the other nose up against the first one. Fire police and ambos for miles, pretty sobering.
We filled up at Dannevirke then turned off on to HW 50 for the last leg of our journey. No traffic, well, apart from a couple of milk tankers and 3 cars. I love that road, it has everything that makes for good motorcycling roads. Mstrs wound the throttle on (only legal speeds, truly) and we had a quick run back to home.
Thanks to Fatjim for giving up his bed for us, Uncle B for tea on Sat night, Jim2 for brekky, Colapop for his strange text messages and all the others that we met,
See you again soon!

Oh shoot, must have missed you - didnt see a young guy wearing white/black spool leathers and sidi boots on a yellow/black bandit 250 (#22) did you? We were probably well within handshake distance on many occasions too... oh well, next time eh?

Umm, probably! Forgot to pack our KB shirts, maybe we all need to get our names tattooed on our foreheads...

It was lovely to see you both, and I'm pleased you got home OK. That wind was certainly a bit rugged yesterday.

Wha...??? They weren't strange - you've just gotta get with the times!! :Pokey: Really good to meet you both and put faces to names. Good ride, good company. We won't talk about the other bit, but I did get some new boots so I suppose the ride home wasn't too bad!
