Just thought I'd be different and upload some pics of the CB "sans les roues".
I have been accused of being anal by Mrs CB but I must admit that I do tend to spend hours in the garage just looking at it, tinkering, cleaning, polishing and generally worshipping it. Am I alone in my adoration or do you fellow KBers find yourselves doing the same? I have even been known to talk to it!
Does anyone know a good shrink? In actual fact when these pics were taken I was caught thinking about having the wheels painted...half an hour later, I had set the wheels in motion! (sorry, crap pun).

Mate. I'm a good shrink and I have to say that the prognosis isn't good. This affliction is likely to follow you to the grave. On the way it will interfere with relationships, influence your decisions about the social circles you move in, probably cause physical and financial pain and may even see you taking time of work to feed the need. In cases where the afflicted is sufficiently motivated it might be possible to develop a treatment involving aversion therapy, addressing the underlying cognitive distortions maintaining the affliction and resolving the chidhood history that probably led to the initial vulnerability. As you might guess, this isn't easy work and can take considerable time. Research into the effectiveness of such treatment is non-existant but it would be my guess that it might be easier to work with P-heads.
Best thing you can probably do is find yourself a support group made up of the similarly afflicted and make sure that you have understanding whanau and friends. Most importantly! Do not go through extended periods of non-use without the appropriate medical support. Medications and distractions will be required to ease inevitable withdrawal symptoms.

I'm 67 this month, had this bike nearly three years, it's only a 650 and I still do that!
We just came home from town and have already given it a little brush and cuddle! Eccentric? weird! Who f**kin cares. Cheers John.

Nah mate, it's all to do with Feng Shui and minimalist use of space and proportion, not to mention the relationship and energy between objects in the garage. Note the considered position of the WD40 can for example.

I know...I know... that's what worries me. I'm nearly 2 score years and 15 and I've been biking since I was 16! And I still can't shrug off this addiction. Even during the "baby years" (when I was bikeless for some five years) I had dreadful withdrawal symptoms. Maybe I should take up knitting. Willy warmers are easy to make apparently.

If the doorways in our house were wider id park my bikes in my bedroom i reckon. Im not sure if i talk to my bike, to me its definatly made of steel and plastic etc, i know it cant hear me. However i do talk to myself about my bikes, when im alone. And i spend hours in the garage looking at them, polishing and tinkering. Id say that is fairly normal for a true motor bike fan. Im guility of giving it a pat on the seat as i walk past, or maybe a rub, and sometimes after a few beers ive been known to give it a big hug, but never when anyone else is watching, they might think im nuts. (after all, if it cant hear me, it surely cant feel me either) right now one of my bikes is in race mode and down at work, im getting withdrawls, so i have a picture of it on my desktop, that helps. :2thumbsup

I would imagine it will look just as good in a year or 2...i have a good mate with a pretty new bandit and he fusses over it big time...was with him today and noticed scratches/marks etc.....i guess it just comes with riding but the worst looking ones were where the paint was peeling off cooling fins which is a shame......

Yeah, sentimentality creeps in so easily. But then again when you buy a new bike, the excitement of picking up the keys on the day tends to make you just walk away from the old one. Then you look at your pictures and have fond memories. Oh god, has anyone got a hanky??

I know the feeling about cleaning your bike ceebie...my ZZR11 got stripped down to rolling frame and engine and it took me 7 hours to clean everything and put it back on.

Then i pissed the missus off by going and getting it all dirty on a trip to Napier from whangas straight after i finished putting it back together.

Like I said to her "You didn't expect me to put it back in its glass case again did you??!"

Keep up the good work mate; good to see one else pedantic about keeping the beast nice

If you mean the Abba paddock stand that my CB is on... then you could try
emailing this guy

steve.lebillon@xtra.co.nz

I brought my stand in from the UK when I emigrated here. When I bought the CB, I needed new bobbins to locate on the swing arm pivots. Steve was the man. He's based in Nelson I think. I think he's the NZ rep for all things Abba (no Swedish jokes please guys!). Good luck.
