Tonight will be on as usual, Sunshine Ave, 10pm... not sure how long it will last with the BRAT squad around, even though they're doing a teriffic job, they should leave us alone with all the dobbing in of dumbarse cagers... but until we know what the exact boundaries are, we'll never get anywhere...

I'm starting to think that after last night's incidents, Friday Night Te Rapa is gonna be canceled until further notice. If anyone would like to keep it going, please let me know, but I'm guessing that the majority would prefer to do their own thing like go into town, party, or drink...

This has been a good meetup, and although it has become a really successfully large group of riders that meet every Friday night, and it will be sad to see it go, but this is a chance for the Hamilton Wednesday Night-styled rides to really take off...

The Mods will probably be quite happy with this move too, with the amount of semi-necessary PD in this thread (without it the thread probably wouldn't be going still), we made it to 51 pages, which I admit isn't close enough to the Tauranga thread, but hey... we gave it a go :second:

So unless someone really wants to keep meeting up on Fridays at Te Rapa, which is pretty much just "asking for it", I suggest everyone move there posts and focus to Hamilton - Riders (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=50243)

Thanks again everyone for the effort you put in showing up on the cold nights at Te Rapa, week after week. Hope to see you guys on a Wednesday Night Ride (or similar) soon.

Rob

so you lied to the cops about your liscence.

And considering I wasn't wearing gloves, jacket or helmet, or anywhere near a bike when the cops stopped for someone else, I don't think he had any right to be asking what license I had...

He asks everyone that are standing next to their bikes, after just getting off them and taking their helmets off while he's standing there: "What license are you on?" from person to person, and I'm standing nowhere near the bikes, and he points at me and says: "What license are you on?", so I said: "My full". And then he went on and ticketed everyone for being out after 10pm...

After a little thought, and after receiving the trackday sample photos that I went to, I went and looked for a little 'piece of road' picture, and thought I'd use my shocking paintbrush skills to show you my wheelie angle, according to a guy from Friday night (the first one to get pulled over)...

PS. Yes, I know this is not a real picture, but would imitate the same sort of lean angle that I managed in the car park :)

Hey FC, both bikes look pretty good. Bandit may be slightly roomier, but no fairing - which means open road riding takes it out of you more.
Honda says its done less k's. Have to get rego off hold.... but would be my pick perhaps....... Only cause it is prob quicker, but I dont know!!

kool my flat mate works there teaching english...i remember nto so long ago you were taking the piss out of a security guard for telling us to move on from outside stitch embroidery one friday night...as if one security guard is really gona make a difference :P haha nice one

security seem to get an average to good pay for not so hard work and you could get into club security which mite be funny...especially at the outback HAHA

well i jsut loged on to trademe and the bandit has gone for $3010... i was about to bid on it but yea the honda would be faster...i'd prefer it to be in a little better condition though so i might as if he puts rego on then i'll use buy now or something on my mates account

don't like the dent in the tank and looking at the back it almost appears as if the sub frame is a little off center

You may seriously want to consider a single or v-twin 250 till you know how to ride, then upgrade... and get something without fairings, therefore if you ever crash it, you won't have to worry about fairing damage

The Flux Capacita
6th June 2007, 17:21
yea thats why i was looking at the bandit because fairings are just expensive but i don't really wana feel all the wind when i'm not riding in town...i was almsot tempted to bid on the bandit just before it closed but decided to see if anyone else had something to say then it was to late so yea

The Flux Capacita
6th June 2007, 20:36
i've had the money for ages just the bikes have gotn cheaper all of a sudden so i can actually afford them...i wasn't gona spend $4000 on a bike exactly the same as my old one with higher mileage etc and with my dad getting all serious about me not getting another one or else i decided to look at cars as well and which ever has a good deal i'd spend the money on

i need other things as well like a computer, new flat etc so yea just managing my money as wisely as possible while still looking for a bike

and i'd rather get the older guys like TA, quasi and warr to teach me because ride harder kinda doesn't really help:P

haha rephase old to more experianced :P what ya reckon though...should i use buy now on that honda, comparing it to my last bike there's only a little bit higher mileage but the carbs have been cleaned and tuned etc, and the only other thing is i had better brakes on my last bike (though they didn't help me) the small dent in the tank mentioned isn't even noticeable

scratchd muffler is easy enough to replace which i'll do if you guys are at robs let me know what ya think:) coz i'm hovering above the buy now button HAHAHA getting desparate to know if i can do much better than that should i wait a little longer

Seriously I don’t give a toss what you think, or about red rep. I guess it’s some one who can’t keep up with an old man like me on an old mans bike like mine, your someone who has obviously never ridden one and has no idea what a Bandit’s all about.

But what I was wondering was – is a gay bike an insult? Why? Can’t gay people ride or something.

Uh...yeah...I'm gonna have to go ahead and say that that's the most unconventional advice I've ever seen about how to learn to ride. Do they teach wheelies at track schools? MSF? Advanced MSF? RRRS? I have no doubt that being able to wheelie well gives you a better understanding of your bike, and better balance, but I've heard of plenty of squids who can hold a balance point but are rubbish in a curve.

But what I was wondering was – is a gay bike an insult? Why? Can’t gay people ride or something.
Bandits aren't gay. Bandits are legends. They're indestructible and versatile. The people red-repping you are gixxer riders who are just embarrassed that you can ride as fast as them on your old clunker, and not be dying of agony after 100 km. I like supersports bikes as much as the next guy, but seriously, in New Zealand the only reason I can think of to have one on the road is to be a poser.

Riding is gymnastics... take Rossi for example... he knows how to corner, because he can do good wheelies

The point of my question was to imply that you yourself aren't a stunter, and therefore to suggest that being able to pop a wheelie has nothing to do with being able to ride fast. Of course, if you think ZeroIndex is right, by all means contradict me. It just seems to me that if being able to hold a balance point was really that helpful to improving your lines, they'd teach it at track schools and the like.

People keep seeming to think I'm getting uptight just because I don't use graphical smileys or something O.o But my point still stands: I don't think that being able to pop a wheelie is a skill which directly affects your ability to ride better in general. Or, more pertinently, practicing riding will improve your riding a lot more than practicing wheelies. If I'm being serious about this, it's only because ZeroIndex seemed quite serious when he said this to Flux:

If you had taken up that offer, your lines might've improved, due to the extra balance skills you acquire while balancing the bike on one wheel... You should learn how to do wheelies as soon as you get your next bike...
Since Flux is not an experienced rider and is still figuring things out, it seems like this is really unconstructive advice, since it's basically BS. The first thing a new rider should be doing is not trying to learn how to wheelie. Maybe Rob was just trying to wind the guy up, but it didn't seem like it to me, and I don't like to see dodgy advice being given to someone who might not know better. If that makes me a humorless plonker, at least I'm a humorless plonker who might have helped someone not drop their new bike doing pointless stunts.

Not sure if I'm being charged with anything... I remember leaving David's house (Carver's brother), and then woke up lying facedown on ground, with a cop asking me why I didn't stop... then I woke up in hospital... Got to David's at 11:30pm, had 2 beers, and then left just after 3am, so it's not like I was intoxicated or anything... was a bit tired, but yeah, just so damn random... wish I knew what happened... damn sore at the moment :(
