Since we crashed our bikes in Dec last year, Sam has pretty much been "off" bikes... she still looked at bikes when they would go past where-ever we were, but she hated me talking about bikes and what i plan to buy or do or fix... she decided that she was going to buy a car and then in maybe a year or two look into getting another bike...

She got really shitty when I originally decided to keep the ZXR and repair it. She wasn't too keen on helping at all. It was a fight to get her to sit there and talk to Jono and I while we pottered around trying this and fixing that... The only part she was willing to help with, without putting up and bitching and moaning session was running up the road every so often to grab washers and so forth, but only cause it got her away from the bike and bike talk.

Since the ZXR has been road legal again, she's moaned everytime I've mentioned going on a ride. I tried building up the brownie points, but that didn't work too well... I finally managed to work a time to go for a ride (with Maverick) and the only reason she didn't bitch about it non-stop was because she had to work that day and couldn't find a good enough excuse to get me to stay home... (Although she did try)

Then this weekend just past, Saturday was her birthday and I said to her that if we had the time and nothing else popped up, she could take my ZXR for a ride as part of her birthday present. On Saturday cause of family and other comitments she couldn't go for a ride...

On Sunday we had a few hours spare between our plans and she decided to go for a ride... with a bit of pushing from me... of course.

She's only been on the ZXR once before, in a car park... and we were both a bit nervous about her taking the ZXR on a little ride. Her helmet needs a new visor from her bin in Dec, so she ended up wearing my old helmet... which was so tight on her, that her face was all squashed up and she talked funny lol... anyway... she pulled out the driveway all nervous and revvy and was gone up the road on her little trip up the motorway to Albany, then home the back way...

Now do you think I can get her to shut up about bikes?

She is back... to the point where she even sat outside for 2 hours while I cleaned the ZXR and much to my surprise she even helped me polish all the metal bits... (remember we're talking about someone who wouldn't even clean her own bike a year ago).

Sam is now determined to talk me out of selling the ZXR, instead she wants me to keep it, and give it to her (yes... give) and then (and only then) can I buy my 600.

I'm stoked that she is back with the bike bug... after 10 months I can finally start talking to her again about bikes and so forth... I'm really keen on the idea of handing the ZXR down to her when I upgrade. That way it gives me more time to fix it up how i had pictured in my head, because I know Sam, and how she rides, so she would be happy to stay on a 250 for at least another year or two before she upgrades (most likely to a cruiser). Which brings up the small problem of not having that extra money to fund the 600...

So yeah... I'm stoked and now trying to work a plan of how I can still afford to buy a 600 without selling the ZXR... Then the future spending on building up 2 bikes to what I have pictured... so if all works out... Sam will be choosing the future colour of the ZXR... and somehow I'm guessing it may end up red...

Anyway... yay! Theres two bikers (alas only one with a bike) in our house again :)

Now all I have to deal with is the "can I ride your bike to work tomorrow" issues lol

Besides... the reason I ride with KB instead of Dykes on Bikes is that women cause way too many drama's... If I liked that I'd ride with just Sam lol

Hey Placidfemme, if Sam wants your bike, then she has to pay for it...

As she has already gotten one FREE m/bike out of you. It only seems fair that she pays for this one... that way you are getting some money to go towards to your bike... when you get your full license.

Otherwise you are the one that is always paying out money for bikes and not her and that sure as hell aint fair, plus she is also working.

Oh yeah if she wants it to be RED...... then she pays for the paint job too... cos you were wanting it black.........

Well we talked about the "free bike" issue... because originally she was meant to pay me back for the FXR and her gear that I paid for. So we compromised that she would pay a slightly higher weekly payment on our joint loan than I do... which in effect doesn't really pay for the debt to me... but makes it show on her part that at least shes ready to make some sacrifices...

But with the ZXR I'm not prepared to actually hand over the keys so to say until I have MY new bike sitting next to the ZXR. Right now, with current circumstances (sp) if I have to start saving from scratch for the 600 I won't be able to buy one until about April/May :(

Right now I'm looking into getting our loan(s) restructured, if it works out that our monthly payments stay the same or lower, I'm considering adding on a few $K towards the 600, I'm seeing the finance guy (the same guy who does all our clients re-finance plans etc) next week sometime (or so the plan is). Hopefully he'll have some good news for me...

And again cause Sam will be getting another free bike (if all goes to plan) then she will be paying slightly more on the loan than I will...

As for the paint job... We havn't really discussed that in detail yet... but we'll see

It is quite possible that Tammy and Sam here in KB land are the same as Pen & Teller on TV. Where one communicates publicly and the other is silent.

lol you didn't know there was a dykes on bikes? Yeah they are mostly (and I use the term lightly) slightly older ladies... on cruisers... Personally never rode with them... called them up and got the impression that because I was on a 150 (at the time) that I wasn't too welcome in the group... so fuck them... and now your all stuck with me because of it  :done:

At leat now you know who to blame for me lol

Sam isn't an internet/computer friendly person... She doesn't have access to the net at work and home, so if she came online she'd have to use the internet cafe... and she hates those places...

She has a log on (Super Sam), but yeah... she never uses it... but she does exist... I promise lol not all my friends are made up... just all the dirty ones

Here is an idea PF, give her the bike but have her pay for this fixup stuff. That should free up some money for your 600.

(unless you have a better idea)

Hey Tam, congrats on Sam biking again, but like others have said she needs to have the responsibility of paying for her transport!

No shit?? Old dykes on bykes..? So there's REALLY worn patches on the rugs? Wow, I'm learning so much I can almost call myself worldly! Stuck with you..? We're (yes I'm speaking for the others) all happy you're here. I think it's an overthrow from the '90's when everyone had to have a gay friend....

There's a certain irony that they discriminate against a woman because of what she choses to ride.

Congrats PF. I remember your post when this all started ages ago and I'm glad it's all come to a happy ending.

good work matey!!!

thanks all :)

I spoke to Sam in more detail about the plan... And right now its all dependant on the re-finance idea. If it works out well, then Sam will be paying for all the remaining repairs needed on the ZXR (including the paint job), which will leave me some money to worry about blinging up the 600 :)

*knock on wood*

I'm getting all excited now!
