As mentioned by PM it depends on which way you go and what you call a "rough rd" really dude.
Gimmie an idea of what style of ride you seek and how much of a hurry you're in and I could map out a boring quick commute or an awesome ye haaa ride through some seriously fun roads.
Name your flavour...and look out for turkeys :innocent:

Chris is your man. He knows the norf like the back of his hand.

Anything between 4-4.5 hours is probably what you are looking at with one stop. I bypass SH1 until Wellsford and pretty much stay on it all the way into Kaitaia. You should only have to stop once for gas (probably in Whangarei or slightly after it)

Last time I was on the road would have been about 4 weeks ago and there were a few road works north of Whangarei. Early Saturday morning is probably the best time to go. You'll enjoy the ride from Kawakawa through Okaiau and over the Mangamukas into Kaitaia.

However - avoid any detours after Kawakawa as you'll probably run into a wild turkey, rouge cows, sheep, pigs etc.... Its farken wild up there!

As mentioned by PM simply contact me if ya want company as there's some styley scenic routes that don't take any longer that are nice at a "casual" pace.

Draw me a map to the residence of the 2 scumbags who robbed the Dutch couple... Might be time for a road-trip!

That will be a waste of time now wont it?
He is on a 250, all he's going to see of you is the back of your bike for about 3 seconds.
Mind you, may hear it for a bit longer.

ok mate

well here goes, im from kaitaia originally and have done the trip more times than i care to think, infact i hate the trip, it simply bores me now, even on a bike!!

depending on were your leaving from itll take you no longer than 2 hours to Whangerai (from auckland city at just the speed limit) then no more than an hour to kawakawa, these are worst case times, i usually did 3 hrs to kaitaia get ma picture??

your missing the bad road which only really starts about half an hour north of kawakawa you youll have good stuff all the way.

saturday there will be cops out! same with friday night, DONT SPEED on the brenderwyn straights! cops love them, you can crank through the brenderwyn gorge tho, thats not to bad usually.

gull as you enter whangaz is a good gas stop

its a pitty your not going thru to Kaitaia as the mangamuka george (15km south of kta) is one of the best gorges to ride in nz in my opinion! i learnt to ride on them and had a ball!!

so yeah mate, any more questions just ask

cheers

Exactly...no idea why someone said it took 3-3.5 hours.
On a 600cc bike you shouldn't have to stop for gas either but if it tickles ya do it
