Ashamed? Stuff that - I'm not ashamed of myself or my country but I'm bloody angry that the god damn animals that do this shit think they can wander around like goddam outlaws in the old west, raping and pilaging...

I can't help the guy but I would if i could...

Yeah gotta agree with Paul. There's no reason for shame. We can stand tall, be proud and rightly look down on the scumbag that ought not be called a New Zealander.

I'm sick of these idiots.

Find him, positively ID him, and take him to Eunich School. Lesson one... the guillotine. Cut his balls off (seriously). I feel for the tourists. No-one deserves what they endured. No-one.

Ediyt - I'm obviously talking about the rape. Castration for stealing a bike's overkill, but reparation isn't. Sell anything/everything he has to pay the Czech guy back.

well i'm ashamed that people come to what is supposed to be a safe country, and they are violated. i personally do all i can to help tourists, but i feel so bad for them when some loser makes their stay ( and they tell all their mates) a stay they'd rather forget

I dont know much about this event or the type of bike required for it, but I have a CR250 in Auckland he can borrow if it suits his needs/class and you know of a way to get it to him.

I'll agree to disagree as I'd rater not debate that whole topic yet again.

Rape... guilt beyond any question? Nuts be gone!

Theft - reparation, here and now (i.e. the victim goes to your house, picks anything they want and sells it till they have full reparation), as well as a custodial sentence.

Just my 10c. Bowing out now.

Nothing surprises me in this fucked up country. People need to wake up and realise that New Zealand is not a safe place to travel or do anything in. Its becoming on par with South Africa here and having shit like this happening here will only make them [tourists] go back to their friends and family in their country and tell them "well fuck NZ don't go there its fill of fucking dirtbags, murderers and rapists"....watch them stay away and keep their currency in their pocket.

I'm disgusted with whats happening here, and to sum it up its so fucking typical of Northland that I have to say that yes I am ashamed to be a New Zealander and even be associated with a country where we have a fucking bullshit legal system and a society where its fine to breed criminals.

Yes, slow, painful death for serious crimes; quick, painless death for less serious ones; and quick, moderately painful death for those in between.

Yes... death would be too quick.

You would be horrified at the number of times I've had to deal with a tourist that's had their car/van broken into and everything stolen - even passports etc.

Yet these poor buggers have often travelled halfway around the world through several different countries including some I would list as 'dodgy' - yet only in good old 'safe and honest' NZ do they get ripped off and their whole trip ruined.

Not saying it's the fault of the tourists. But perhaps the belief that NZ is a safe place causes them to let their guard down? Still like to see the cretinous leeches pay for their crimes in a meaningful way (one that does not include slightly damp bus tickets).

I guess the trouble is where the tradeoff is between a safe society and a free society. In heavily policed states, there is alot of safety, but not freedom.

NZ is strange, we have an economy closer to socialism (39% tax, complete socialism is just $100% tax) than others, but very liberal legislation...

No wonder we're all mad.

This from http://xtramsn.co.nz/news/0,,11964-6556821,00.html

"Far North mayor Yvonne Sharp says the terrifying ordeal two tourists endured near Paihia is a horrible and rare event to happen in her district."

What a crock of shit!! What she should be saying is this sort of thing happens all the time in Northland aka the wild north.

I remember another instance when 2 guys left their vehicle to go surfing only to come back and find all their gear and bags stolen. The "locals" denied any knowledge of the theft, while all the time they were even taken pictures of themselves with the guys stolen cameras. Then police did fuck all about it too.

What a great society we have up here. Tourists shouldn't even bother heading north of auckland, its safer not to.

I make a point of telling anyone that tours here on a bike to NEVER leave it unattended with their gear attached. Likewise, I cannot understand why people hire campervans - it's like a big sign that says rob me....

Thats no excuse of course - the useless drug / booze addicted generation needs sorting out big time. Honest to god I'm sick of the violence and picking up their bills. I'm afraid the far north and the east cape are two places we are quite careful about leaving anything unattended or making yourself vunerable to these idiots. Both have got about as much fun as down town...

Thats exactly what we need over here, although I can't see our leader giving it any thought except to maybe increase their [the scum bags] dole money

Maybe a similarity with Arab countries needed as well....you steal, you have your hands cuts off. We should add to this by if you rape, you get your dick cut off, and if you murder, you get you head cut off.

Unfortunately while its great to rant and rave about it, no-one will actually ever do anything about it and we will remain a nation with a third world country crime rate.

I am sick of seeing crims get away with so much in our politically correct soft-stance "hug an offender" society. Many crims are happy in jail - so where is the deterrent? It's just a normal part of their lifestyle.

They are kept warm and cosy and very well fed and entertained at our expense. Yet we have to work our balls off to earn the things we have and the holidays we get, while these scum hurt us and steal from us without any hesitation in the world.... and they are also usually collecting taxpayer funded benefits while the plunder and steal, intimidate and crap over the good people in society.

While these crimes are bad, fortunately for us, NZ is nowhere as bad as SA. I have spent some time talking to a couple who were police officers in SA, they were telling a story of a tourist reporting a carjacking, what surpised them most that the tourist was alive to be able to report the incident, the number of murders in NZ in a year might make one day over in SA, they just don't even get to the papers let alone headlines.

As for the perpetraters of these crimes, just occasionally the police should be less politically correct and deal with them.

My wife is going through a court case after she was knocked off her bike, the lawyer for the defendant asked for a "restorative justice conference" My lady started the process supposedly as the victim to be able to have her say, when we discussed things with the facilitator, she was told she couldn't show the offender pictures of her injuries as that would traumatise the offender...

And we thought it was about the victim letting the offender know what they had been through:gob:

I think a little less PC and a large dose more justice would sort the problem out :ar15: :chase:

When I leave somewhere that I have been I like to think I have left it in better shape than it was in when I arrived.

This country is really worrying me because it looks like I am going to leave it in a much worse state than it was in when I arrived here in 1939.

My generation has little to be proud of when I look at what our grandchildren are inheriting from us and reading this thread just hits it home even harder.

An apology is of little value and achieves or changes nothing but to all of you who follow us that is all I have to offer. Sorry! :bye: John.

Two men, aged 27 and 29, face charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, abduction and serious sexual assault in relation to the attack on the young honeymooning couple on November 10

One thing i never could understand. Will it go something like this?.

Aggravated robbery..4 years
Kidnapping.. 6 years
Abduction and serious sexual assault.. 6 years
= 16 years but we will make it concurrent so around 7 years minus the year in remand waiting for a trial = 6 years with parole option at 80% served, out in round 5 years. All while living off the pigs back.

.....and the same stinking defence lawyers (harder/dyberg etc) will be milking it like they have for years.
Not to mention they are being payed by the taxpayer as every person is entitled to a fair trial based on innocent until proven guilty.

I remember something from a geography class from around 197something.
Those pome's were onto it.
They stapped you in a chair over a river and dunked you in.If you drowned you were innocent,if you didn't then you were a witch for sure.

the way i see it. its really a matter of perception. Touists have a perception of this country as PURE and CLEAN and WHOLESOME, that is perpetuated in the media and advertising abroad. When the reality is, this country is very much like every other developed country, it has drug problems, it has social problems, it has its own unique problems all of which have a negative impact on crime levels.

When I lived in Dublin, this German tourist was attacked in his tent at night and beaten and robbed - there was outrage, and rightly so - the fucking plonker had pitched his tent in "the pheonix park", which is kinda like setting up tent in central park in NYC, you just don't do it - its a big park in a big city full of people that will have the shirt off your back and the shoes off your feet. STUPID IDEA.

If tourists went around this country with an ounce of self preservation on board then there might not be so many incidents like this, "these guys where told not to camp by the falls", I'm not condoning anything, I think this crime is heinous, but common sense should have told them it wasn't a good idea.

maybe tourists need to be warned more clearly and be told of some of the very real dangers that lurk under the surface of urban and rural NZ - but then that might have a bad effect on the number of tourists that decide to come to this country and the tourist dollar is worth alot to the economy, so best to deal with them as they happen and hope word doesn't spread:innocent:

Spot on mate. I've been robbed twice in two years in this country (one broke into the car and another picked my pocket). Other kiwi's were trying to tell me the crime rate in the UK is much worse than here. Load of bollocks. When we were 'tourists' in this country there were so many nice walks etc we wanted to go on but often nowhere safe to leave our vehicle. Other tourists had obviously fell for the "clean green safe" crap.

Personally I think anyone involved in this crime should be deported to the Netherlands for a trial there.

I have been reading this post:

I do not know what the answer is, to the tourists I can only appologize.

But what shames me is when I think of the sacrifice the generations before me have experianced and suffered, for what I may ask?

Bend-it quotes Edmond Burke: All that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is that good men ( and women) do nothing.

When We were at high school we use to get the cane, didn't like it, was shameful, and it hurt.

I read in Roj's thread, and draw identical conclusions from being asked to have a meeting with the perpitrators of an act of breaking and entering and willfull damage to a property of ours in 2000.

The youth aid officer asked me on the phone what I would like to achieve in the outcome of the meeting, my reply: Get the little pricks back here and stand over them while they clean the place up?

His reply: Look we don't work that way, we can't do that, the object of the meeting is to let the perpetrators be confronted with their victims.

My reply was not very nice, and I told him where to stick his meeting, he called me a couple of days later to ask if I would reconsider, I asked would you reconsider, he said no the system doesn't work that way, and my way hinders the rehabilitation of the perpetrators, no shit, I could not believe what I heard.

I asked what about my rights, he replied I had insurance....

I have often wondered how the police would re-act to vigilante acts, not killing the little fuckers, but certainly delivering some retribution, IE a good caning on video tape and put on the web, maybe some one could construct some stocks????

NZ is fucked, I regret moving back to NZ, parents with no rights, have to watch our kids go off the rails, and cannot dish out retribution, the authorities only place the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff.

To the perpatrators of the darstedly act with regard to the tourists, take them out to the woods, dig a hole, and a double tap behind the ear.

I am up for it, and I will not lose any sleep over it, I can asure you.

Live in society, respect thy fellow citizen.

We have been divided and conqured, we are more concerned with green house gases, the economy, rights for gays, etc etc, have to get back to the simple things, and rebuild:

A good start would be a constitution on how we want to be governed.

Then compulsory recorded voting on legislation, and issues of importance.

Get rid of the career polititions, limit the terms of office.

Enough, but shit its a good rave.

To OLDRIDER: Mate you guys have not let us down, you've paid your price, more than alot of use could ever realise, or imagine.
Mate I blame the United Nations human rights agenda.

NZ runs on spin, we tell tourists lies and are then surprised when they believe us.
Read tourist guides for anywhere in Europe and they will warn you of unsafe areas and basic security precautions.
It's our national insecurity rising to the fore again, we think that if we tell the truth, people won't visit us.

Tourist should be made aware that even travelling around our beautiful country, they need to have some sort of protection for self defense, and be on the lookout at all times for dodgy/suspicious people.

If more of these scumbags got a baseball bat to the head, or hacked at with a machete, maybe they would think twice about fucking with people.
But having said that, if a clever tourist was to bludgeon one of these rapist burglars, and break their arms and legs, they would probably end up in jail with the scumbags on the inside, instead of with the scumbags on the outside.

I wouldn't want to be the person who fucked with me and my loved ones, and was stupid enough to leave me alive to do something about it.
I learnt a thing or two during my seven years in the army.

It is my belief there is degrees of criminality, as I believe there is degrees of morality:

Punishment to fit the crime, taking into account age and background.

In the original BIBLICAL MASORATIC TEXT, It translated into THOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER, the liberal translation has replaced that with, THOU SHALL NOT KILL? there is a lot lost in this.
