Just a question for the collective wisdom found here....have had the Softail fitted with SEII pipes and hi flo kit..but not a dynojet kit.
Is it a good idea to do? Is it necessary? Is there that much improvement? How much does it cost?
Any advice would be welcomed.........
Thank you

I had a chat with the team at AMPS in Auckland when I was looking at how to get the right sound from an 07 Deuce. They showed me a dyno graph with standard , hiflow-powercommander-debaffled exhaust & hiflow - cams - powercomander - debaffeled.
Although all very similar down low, each step added around 10 hp at the mid to top end and they really seemed positive about the need for the power commander to run the EFI with the other mods. Said it would run too lean with out telling the EFI things had changed! I assume the same would be true for carbys?
I ended up purchasing from Wellington and they only do the SE gear and Harley don't have a suitable solution yet for the 07's so I've just had the exhaust debaffeled and the butterfly valve removed. Haven't heard it yet - but they seemed confident it would give the sound inprovement I'm looking for and when I get it back to Auckland, I was thinking seriously about haveing AMPS fit the hiflow and power commander at the first sevice.
I'm also interested in anyone's thoughts on this......

Gotta ask - Did Wellington Motorcycles do this for you and if so, Have you been in there lately and if so, Does the Blue 07 Deuce on the floor look as good in the flesh as it does in the photos they sent me?

My understanding is that you need to do all three mods to get the full benefit of any of them.
It stands to reason that it would be running too lean right now.
The kits are a couple of hundy or less, depending on where you find them, plus an hour or so's labour if you don't do them yourself.

Invest $100 - $150 and get a baseline dyno run done. Then you'll know where it's at.

I was told it was a very good idea.
With no mods my bike was reported to be running lean at the top end.
AMPS did a custom map and I've got no complaints.
My bike isn't a cruiser but the Dynojet smoothed out the rather abrupt throttle on/off that the Hornet has.
The cost is variable depending where you get the unit. Check out the big US suppliers and then AMPS or your local dealer and work out what suits you.
The maps need to be done by people with up to date Dynojet equipmet. The website has a list. AMPS isn't the only one, there is one in Tauranga or thereabout too. There is also one at the top of the South Island too from memory.
Good luck
