Hey Steffi, if nobody is coming from town may be easier to meet us at Rimutex, it's the Caltex station you and Nigel filled up at last Sunday.

A couple of us coming from town are meeting at the Caltex (self serve station) in Kaiwharawhara at 9:30 and heading out to Rimutex from there if anyone wants to join us there. But we wont be waiting round, just Dreamer and I meeting there and heading off.

apteryx_haasti
10th December 2006, 07:28
See you guys at Rimutex at 10 - or possibly a bit before or a bit after - I am not very good at judging how long it takes me to get to it! I got a surprise the first time because it's further from EB than I thought.

Don't worry - will allow plenty of time!

Hey Sphinx - I'm coming from Newtown. But probably just as easy to meet everyone at Caltex. If you wanted to I could meet you at the Kaiwharawhara Caltex - same 1 we all met at on Thursday. PM me. :)

This is turning into the most organised KB rides in history. I reckon there must be about 20 posts per attendee. Women eh? :killingme
Off to go and gear up, make critical decisions - Long Johns under leathers or not and head out.

See you all there.

Well thanks to Mrs KD for orgainsing/suggesting the ride. :2thumbsup

There were 15 of us all up - whoop whoop! I only went as far as the summit today (housework beckons  ) but it was great to see everyone & meet a few new faces. The roads were damp but it wasn't raining....was a bit chilly though "brrrrrrr". Since this was my 1st ride in ages (actually since the last Biker Angels ride in April) I'd forgotten how cold it is up there but, it was great to get out...yes must do that more often.

Hope the rest of the ride is dry & fun. :niceone:

10th December 2006, 15:33
Yes, thanks Mrs Kendog :D

Enjoyed the ride, even if I did make a few mistakes along the way. It's all a learning experience for me and the more I do, the better I get (I think...).

Was a great ride over the takas and back - just wish I could have stayed for the whole ride instead of leaving after lunch. Lots I had to do this afternoon before we head off to the UK for Xmas next weekend (yay!!!).

Hope everyone got home safe :)

T'was a great day alright, glad to see so many of you there today, and lovely to meet some new members and see some familiar faces too! :sunny:
Glad you gals made it home safely and we'll definately have to arrange another gal ride sometime soon, maybe where we have more time to sit, relax and have a natter. I have to say I'm sure Uncle B would have been proud of the 250 riders smoothness today, well done!
Thanks to Vicki also for heading up the front for us and to Julia and Mr Kendog later who helped with the rear duties. There must be some photos floating about somewhere too, I have a few, but they're not that flash, but will post soon.:done:

magicfairy
10th December 2006, 16:09

I was so slow, yes... I know I can corner much faster if I want, but hey... going to do alot more practicing. Cheers girls, cant wait for the next one. :)

I have some photos too, but I am so tired, I might post tomorrow.

Yep Elle told me about the ride to Dannevirke yungatart.... I will be there with bells on!! :D

elle-f
10th December 2006, 18:43
Kia Ora........there will be no bells on the Dannivirke ride in January. Mrs Kendog - let us know when you are available and we can work around that - I am available all Jan :Punk:

Lissa you are bloody good dammit! I enjoyed it. Can you believe those Wellingtonians told us they were heading home and tried to sneak to the Gladstone? LUCKILY the locals told us this and we intercepted :innocent:

I thoroughly enjoyed the day and didnt actually want to stop riding....

Hey, I just had an idea.......If i send everybody that was there today 2 reports each through email - could you write them and send them back? That way i dont have to do them tonight........

thanks Elle! :shifty:

I've been eyeing up 250 Hornets (just to keep up with the Kendogs  )
and I think thats the bike to go for. ...umm..seems there's one in Motomart so I might go and flash my eyelashes at Todd or Martin to see if they'll let me have a test ride! They might even be reading this....who knows!!!
Wish me luck!

Trudes
10th December 2006, 19:11
Good luck Bex!!! You'll love the Hornet, so much fun, and then you can come on the next run. You never know, maybe we'll make a bun, and bake it in the sun.
(ok talking of sun, I think I had too much today, or it could be the rum). ok, I'm :done:

Have you given a VTR Honda some thought?
The V twin layout is really nice as it's got decent low end power for a 250...

Oh yeah....we just happen to have a nice yellow one in stock!

Nice the weather held out for you all, I've just checked out the photos, looks and sounds like you all had a fine time. How where the muffins ?

The weather here in Napier was not as bad as expected either, there has been a fresh dumping of snow on the Kawekas and Ruahines Friday, Saturday was a bit shitty but Sunday was sunny and fresh, a beautiful day, soft light and some warmth in the sun.

I'll talk to Yungtart about the ride she has planned in January, should be able to make it on that and meet some of you then, if my bikes here ! Its gotta be this week, after 10 weeks waitng I have gone from waiting patiently to starting to get fucked off, if I do not have it by the weekend I will be seriously fucked off.On fri I was told its finally here, on the boat in port, so surely there cannot be any more holdups.

Least you have something to ride in the mean time, maybe they are still extruding the alloy for your handlebars, a guy I work with has been waiting 4 weeks for some paint to arrive so he can repaint his ute, how does that work! its only paint, can't they just go out the back and mix it like house paint.Must be a low priority job for the spraypainter. He has it prepared,... its sitting waiting, sorta annoying that we have to wait so long for stuff at times.

Apparently The honda factory can build all the bikes for the NZ market in one day, so I guess little wee NZ is not high on the priority list.

Glad the muffins where up to standard, I hope Lissa you realise you have started something and that you will be expected to bring muffins on all the rides you turn up too.If you arrive with them down the front of your jacket they might be nice and warm, butter slightly melted, straight out of the human warming drawer.

Oh , good god! Should I tell you about spare time and how much my time is worth to me, Quote:
"I see it like this.

My free time (after work or weekends) is valuable to me and could be quantified as say $60 per hour. I could do the servicing my self costing me $60 an hour, or I could pay someone to do it while I am at work.

But, if you enjoy servicing your bike then absolutely you should do it yourself." Kendog

It may be cheaper for you to just do it yourself honey!

Thanks so much gals for organising the ride - I had a great time and it was nice to meet some more kb's and put faces to names. Looking forward to catching up again at some stage.

I just wanted to say what an awesome sight it was as all the bikes rode out of Lake Ferry (I was towards the back) - knowing that every one of those bikes was being ridden by a woman. Made me feel really proud to see "sisters doing for themselves" All ages, all sorts of bikes.

And really nice to have the fast experienced riders like Vicki choosing to hang out with the ladies, what great role models for the newer riders.

Must have been quite a suprise to onlookers if they realised it wasn't just another bunch of blokes (with the very rare woman) riding round the Wairarapa.

skelstar
12th December 2006, 07:51
Trust me I would rather ride with a fast woman any day...ok that came out wrong. What I mean to say is that woman are less likely to indulge in ego trips and alpha male type shit slinging that the men can be prone to. Having said that I ride with some good guys who are over that kinda stuff now. Probably old age (not you Nigel).

Methinks the newbie ride is also being gatecrashed by old timers (like me) posing as newbies. Good crack though aye? Any excuse for a ride.

lighter than muffins,
a backpack of cookies should not cause you to be late Lissa.A bit of ballast on your back will help the wheelie practise tooo, although you might need to sit back on your seat a bit to help get the front wheel off the ground.

Oh hey Bex, was thinking about you and your bike search, have you thought about trying a Bandit, they are a bit lower in seat height as well as being pretty great bikes (for a Suzuki):dodge: and if you're not sure about the Horney 900 then you can try a Bandit 600 or maybe an SV, but they are quite high. Good luck tomorrow, let us know how you get on.
Edit: Hey check out the ER6 and the GSR600 too, again, great bikes, all different and have their own pluses. I know how hard it is to look at anything past the Hornet, they are so pretty!

Hi all,
Finally, finally have got my bike, (biggest smile ever).Went out and paid for it yesterday and asked them the usual questions yu need to know. The guy there asked how long since I had rode a bike, and when I told him the basic skills test 5 months ago was it really, he pulled out a little 125 trail bike and sent me off for a blat around the orchard by the shop.It was awesome and just the confidence boost I needed before jumping on my bike.Had to dodge a few pickers and the odd ute loaded up with stonefruit.God, I think I need a trailbike to.I can see this motorcycling is going to keep me broke.
I headed off not sure how far I would venture, but it all felt good and I felt confident enough so I ended up doing a 120 km backroad loop, lovely twisty roads and hardly any traffic until I came back through Havelock. The twisty bits where really good to practice cornering and it all went well. The only thing I had a problem with was remembering to turn off the indicator, which is dangerous when yu have just come round a left hander, indicator still going then go straight through a roundabout. So today I will have to concentrate a lot more on that, sorta forgot with concentrating on the gear changes. There are some great back country roads here in the Bay, we locals are lucky.
Stuck at work till 3.00, its just a gorgeous Hawkes Bay day outside, pedalled into work and its warm as, roll on 3.00 so I can pedal home and swop bikes.

Lissa
16th December 2006, 07:59

See you Wednesday, if not before....

Trudes

Yungtart, I think I should be up to riding Wednesday evening with you all.
Will see how I feel after the weekend, so far so good.

MSTRS, I thought you might growl me after your advice, I did listen but if I had done as you suggested I would have been back in no time hanging out for more. Its good to go off by myself for starters cause then there is no pressure, sometimes even someone with the best intentions can still be offputting to me, plus I will not be much fun for you to ride with at my speed.

Lissa, I will be down your way sometime and look forward a ride with you and some muffins. Will be in contact at some stage, if you feel like venturing up to the Bay let me know.

Yer, Ericksons where good except for the loonnng wait, but that was out of there hands.Nice gal and guys out there to.

Hope yu all have a good weekend and safe riding.

Skeltar, the fun on bikes began years ago for me, this is just a differant type of fun, adds to the variety of life.

Now I dont know anything much about bikes so Im hoping you guys can help me out. Thanks.

I traded mine 15 month old one into Wellington Motorcycles. 3 weeks ago
It has bigger jets so it doesn't backfire as much, brand new Metzler tyres (stock ones are rubbish) and a Ventura pack frame.
I bought it new with 0 ks on clock and looked after it really well, had all the services at the right time, run in carefully. Not sure if it has been sold, will be about 5 to 5.5 thousand.
Great bike - never droppped it once not even in driveway.
I went up to the S50. but I do miss my Savage.

So not that cheap but in perfect condition and won't have any hidden surprises.

And it is white, so it looks nice.
A great bike for a woman rider.

Was it your partner that hopped on my S50 at the ride? To see how she fitted?

Nope - Bridget (Mrs Nudemetalz) was on the Moto Guzzi.

I think y'all are talking about Sue (Kawasaki 650) - she's not a member but she's the one who I almost bought her Honda VTR 250 (got too pricey on the auction) and who told me about KB (her son is a member).

Big ups to Sue!

*Edit - looks at photo. Of course, if that is Bert, then Sue is on her right (but the left as you look at the photo).

Bridget is the one in the black and white, tho, pretty sure.

*throws confusion upon matter*

Provided I'm right about which one is Bert_is_evil....

Let me know kids, except I have already agreed to lunch in town on Thursday, if any of you were keen on that, let the little kiwi know.
Weather doesn't look too good on this side for the rest of the week(Saturn weather) but, Skels can inform me of what the weather is doing, come on Toni, what's the weather up to?

Lissa
9th January 2007, 10:44

Ok, so here come the excuses....... Main reason is 'cause I'm planning on riding my bike at Manfield on Saturday and don't fancy any longish rides just before that, weather is still looking a bit dodgy, my bike is clean and it doesn't like getting wet and dirty (Ok, I hate cleaning the bloody thing), and I find the road between Featherston and Danniverke/Napier etc really boring and only rode it a few weeks ago. Good enough? Go on, call me a pussy and give good rebuttals to my excuses.:wait:

Sorry you aren't coming Mrs KD..full of excuses aren't you? Look out for Mstrs - blue/white GSXR (has "The Wanton Hussy" on the rear cowl) and hXc- metallic blue Spada at Manfield and say hi to them.
Lissa, the road is easy peasy, no twisties, just a few gentle bends, take your time and you'll be sweet. Look forward to meeting you.
If the weather is absolute shite, PM me and we can make it another time.

10th January 2007, 09:29
Well starting to think that Manfield may be a no go for me anyway as the weather is meant to be shite, so one of my excuses may be null and void, so I'll just play it by weather forecasts. Will someone post on here as to plans for Friday on Friday morning??

Hope the winds not blowing between Masterton and Woodville like it was on Saturday, had to lean into it to stay upright, man it can blow through there, guess there is a good reason they put a windfarm on the ranges there.
