View Full Version : Gangsta Hand Signals

Whynot
7th December 2006, 07:46
So i was riding home last night after dark through Onehunga area and had just got a green light when i saw a couple of local budding gangstas on the footpath.

As i passed they both proceeded to make various hand signals/gestures at me. The signals mostly consisted of elbows raised and far apart, hands pointed in an outwards/downwards direction with fingers apart and i think one even had one foot off the ground.

Now, being one who has never had much to do with this particular culture, i was unaware of what this signal means and i was wondering if anyone could help me ...

:)

i guess in there language... they are saying the bike is PHAT.
i.e. they like it/ think its cool/its the shit

think the gesture is derived from gangsta/rapper videos. maybe to signifiy the bouncing of a car on hidrolycs.
and all the wanabees do it. because they also think they are cool/ the shit.

my mate had a ute with airbags, the gesture was performed for him many a time.
it sorta makes you feel embarrassed :(

A ute with airbags?? Like deployed? Most of the time the airbags just sit out of sight in the steering wheel or passenger side dash... ;)

What did Kramer say.....I think it might have been what they where trying to say. hahaha joking..I'll wait for the red reps.

To be honest I can't quite figure the whole westside, southside thing or the boxers hanging over the jeans thing. Maybe I'm not wankstar enough.

let me re-phraise it then
my mate had a ute with AirBag suspension.
you flick a switch the ute eitehr goes up or down, and you get a psssshhhh sound.
the hommies see you, elbows raised in all
hommies think they have some sort of connection with you, because the gangsta/rappers on tv and cars with hydrolycs...don't see the logix.

they must have seen a hommy on TV riding a bike..

You know I had exactly the same thing happen to me when I was riding down Onehunga Mall at about midnight a while ago! I was just like... hmmm... ok... I'll just keep looking straight ahead, and try not to stare at the retarded kids...

Yeah I dunno, there's something strange going on in Onehunga these days. Because I've been catching the bus lately, I've noticed on all these bus-stops and other streetsigns, there are these white stickers with `Onehunga Crew' or something like that written on them in gothic font, with some suitably witty catchphrase underneath such as `Toke a Nut' or some variant. Quite odd. I've seen these in the CBD, in Newmarket... all over the place.

Umm, I work in a residence for the mentally impaired and I had a good conversation with a couple of the residents (down syndrome) as I left work today. They didn't have to wave their arms or lift their feet to make me understand them. One said my bike was awesome and the other said his dad used to ride an XXL. I though an XXL was a shirt size but I'm prepared to be corrected.

You shouldn't really compare the hip hop, gangsta dudes to those with a mental disability. The nutters are way cooler!

I was waiting for the bus in town the other day and there were these two chicks and a guy. One of the chicks keeps doing this weird body movement, flinging her arms up in the air. I got the feeling she farted and dropped a turd by mistake. Look like she was trying to get it back inside. I felt like saying "Love the movement" but thought better of it.

I have a retarded younger brother, when I come home at NIGHT and theyr all sitting around downstairs:doobey: with theyr sunglasses and "puffer" jackets (its summer remember) and also their laceless $250-$350 nikes, all practicing their "gangsta" hand signals... apparently its meant to look something like a letter or something to do with their "crews" name or something along those lines.. Perhaps someone should present these "gangstas" with a mirror so they might actually realise how retarted they look.... either that or they should make those hand signals a crime punishable by death.......:ar15:
