C.B. was up Central Otago today, it was foggy-as down here near the coast (warm and calm though) but from the Beaumont area it turned to hot-hot sun and clear skys, here's hoping it is like that all weekend eh?:yeah:

Great ride, great company, stopped the Friday night in Q'town so's the Ch-ch Rabble could have a go on the luge on Saturday morning, then it was off to the rally in about 28degree heat and get KampKB set up.
Met a few more new KBers at the rally, I think the number of Kbers was around 20 or more.
Usual drinking and yarning crap afternoon, usual tat & tit show with a novelty wet-jock contest - winner had a, ahem, a piercing in his 'eye' from which he hung a large yellow bike disc-lock!!:gob: idb said he would have been more impressed if it had been the whole bike hanging of the guys 'ole fellah'
Rode from Cromwell (Coromandel in Dangerese) with Night Hawk and FREE2B, both excellent riding companions - no crowding/tailgating and happy with the pace, things were not TOO bad rain-wise until Fruitlands outside Alexandra, then the skys opened up big-time until Beaumont area, got a damp front on my t-shirt from water running down the front of my neck and one sleeve of my jersey got a tad damp. My riding apparel was not the most waterproof :innocent: (KB Safety Police would have a coniption if they saw me:nono: ) so I was quite pleased to 'only' get that damp.

Stromfrau and I stayed at the rally site until the worst of the rain had passed. It was only spitting as we rode home, but one section of the Glenorchy road had thick fog/low cloud. A pleasant 2 hour ride home and a nice sunny afternoon.
Good to see all the Christchurch riders again, and to meet a few new faces.

Great first rally enjoyed the KBers company - shame about the rain and as new rally type people got caught a bit short with the appropriate equipment. A bigger tent and something better to sleep on may have stopped us getting wet. I hate wet sleeping bags.
Looking forward to the next one :scooter:

Bloody ace weekend ya all.
Left in the damp and got home in the damp, but not actually all that wet, nor was it cold at any point n time.
Ride inland was great, had lunch at Omarama, then headed south to meet the southern inbreds, while cranking up the Lindas a 888 came hurtling down... what ya know IDB's duc actually goes... well spose he was headed down hill so he may have been coasting for all I know.
The group rocked up at Cromwell on time and sat our arses down in the beer garden, the inbreds were already there and what ya know they didn't even have a round waiting on the table for us.
Headed into QT were we split up to our various digs for the night. Into town for a drink or few and a feed, I was amazed that some of the table wasnt arsed out for being so roudy.
Sat morning and after a feed at a over priced shit hole (its how QT has become) we headed to the Gondola and the luge (see pics) but basically I kicked ass and put em all in to the wall and took the checkered flag.
Rode the wickedest 50k in the south Is to Glenorchy were we had a beer at the pub then headed for the rally site... were the usual shit goes down.
Rained most of the night and into the morning but we managed to get packed up relativly dry.
Buggered off to Cromwell for breakie which was a far better feed than QT and 1/2 the price (even tho the bogs were ex prison stainless steel, no seat and the dunnie paper was kept on the floor) said our byes to the southeners and headed north for a enjoyable ride back to were we belong.
Just like to add, as usual thanks to the mob that was there and great to meet the newbees like FREE2B and NighthawkNZ

When Night Hawk and I were heading to the rally we caught up with a couple of cars following a large truck, they were about 80 - 100 metres back from the truck possibly due it creating a lot of spray from the wet road.
On a straight downhill section of road I decided to pass the two cars, everybody was doing 85-90kph.
As I got alongside the front car ( a crappy silver boy-racer wannabe with a black bonnet) it sped up and kept pace, had to give the old girl a good nudge to get on front them then pulled in behind the truck.
It pulled over a couple of minutes later to let the traffic past and next thing old bloggins mit der blackbonnet is up behind me, like REALLY close, could alomst read his no. plate in my "Objects may be closer than the appear" factory HD mirrors, Night Hawk thought I was going to become a large bonnet emblem on said car.
About a km down the road bloggins decided to pass me - waited until the broken yellow line had started then he pulled out and got on front of me halfway along the solid yellow line, just after that there was clear straight roads to Africa!!!! Go figure.
Noted the number, did a check today and yup, some brainless low life not long out of prison for doing a robbery with a pistol. (and about 54 other convictions to his name, not bad for somebody in their mid 20's eh?)
Same story - shitty person = shitty driving.

I had a bloody great time too. Thankfully my head didn't punish me too much for it either. The luge was definitely exciting, especially going 2/3 wide through the tunnel with the backend kicking out.
I got a few good photos as well... along with some pretty strange ones. I had to rescue my camera off a certain person taking photos of random people and rubbish (litterly). I'll upload a few tonight after work.
I had little in the way of bike troubles. However I think the rain wasn't too good for the chain... it's developed a couple of tight spots... suppose I should have lubed it at Glenorchy before coming back. The master link retaining clip also managed to part from the chain... again. Impressive considering I had araldited the bastard on there.

Any idea of how many attended in total???
Don't know and wouldn't like to estimate how many people were there, but this year was the fifth time I've been and it would've been the smallest gathering I've seen.

Well I went to sleep figuring that that had to be Woodybee's voice strugglin with pathetic band backup! Awesome voice, better than the band I reckon.
Great to meet the gang again, and some new faces to pseudonums. Took my camera and not one photo! Dumbass!!! Anyways awesome ride up with 8 friends, stopped at Arrowtown pub & stayed toooo long, ran into IDB leaving the pub.
Left 6 mates (except other X75) at Glenorchy pub and ya know they never left!!!!! Apparently the place absolutely rocked until 4 AM with Irish and Norwegian staff (substitute Babes) from Blanket Bay Resort.
We came across an ambulance in the fog at the Bluffs 25 kms from Q/town. "Curly" was down and his HD Dyna? wrecked in the ditch, missed a corner and somersaulted up the bank. Didn't look good but he was movin in the ambulance so lets hope, eh?
Stopped @ Beaumont for 1.5 hours to dry out in the sun, hung my gear over the outdoor furniture. Man! was I wet through. Then enjoyed ride home.
Thanks to those posting photos.

not a 'big' rally as in number of people, but one of the best rally sites as far as I am concerned. Numbers did seem to be down on last year, but still had a fab time! the turkey drumsticks were just as good this year as last ;)
Had a ball meeting a few new faces (lil byte, Nighthawk and free2b), even got up and danced for a bit... wasn't that much rain, just a bit of a drizzle most of the late arvo. Quite a change from when we arrived in the brilliant HOT sunshine, at least we got to set up in the dry and sit and watch all the entertainment... including that idiot on the HD loose it big time!
Still an excellant weekend, great ride and good company!
See you all in 2 weeks ;)

Vincent & March Hare for me too, already entered. Vincent 2005 = 38 degrees, sittin in the river with my 6 pack. March Hare 2006 (Waimate showgrounds this year) was the best Kiwi Rally I'd ever been to, the 20th & I cannot believe I'd never been before. It wasn't the biggest I'd been to BUT food variety, quality entertainment and excellent fire made the weekend. Hope they replicate it!

This word has been bothering me since I read it, "coniption", wtf does that mean?
Where is Hitcher when you need him? Surely this word did not slip by completely unchallenged on KB!
Is that just one of the secret words you guy's use at work SD and you accidentally used it while tired from riding too far in one day? John.
