I've got a 2002 VTR firestorm which has after market pipes and double bubble screen and it's a nice bike which I use to travel each day to work and the occasional thrash on the weekend with mates. I'm starting to get itchy feet and I've been looking around at bikes in the 10-15k bracket as a replacement.

So Far I've toyed with and older R1, Aprilia RSV Mille but I'm open to feedback.

The other option is to keep mine and tweek it up with braided lines and suspension mods etc.

Try riding a GSX-R750 K3/K4/K5. You'll find a gixxer heaps better than a firestorm. I did.

Do a tour of bike shops and test ride some 2nd hand bikes that catch your eye.... Even if you stick with the VTR you get to have a bit of fun in the process :scooter:

Keep the VTR for your "Every Day Bike" and buy yourself a weekend / track day Toy like an R1, ZX10.

This way you have a choice, the tractor like performance of a V Twin or the Ferrari like performance of an Inline 4.

If you own a boat then get a GSXR.

I've got exactly the same model VTR too.
Well, its in the shed. The new owner is to take it away very soon.

I've an '07 Triumph Speed Triple on order due in about 4 weeks in the new green colour, hence the wait.
Felt so much better to ride than the VTR, when I rode a demo.
Had more go, and a lot of character.

Stick with a Honda and you won't break down like the Gixxer boys:innocent:

Maybe a 'blade? Blackbird if you want a mile-muncher with colossal performance and comfort.

I found the Suzuki 750cc (K4) great. I just got greedy after a while and went for more cc's. The 750 was a sweet bike to ride and handled really well.

And if it gets too scary you can get a DR:dodge:

If you go for the Aprilia, try to get one that has had many of the standard mods sorted e.g. derestricted, airfilter, exhaust etc..

I think you should go completely different kinda bike, like an RS250 (if you're not too large), or get a 96ish ZX6R, something with a nice induction howl, that's a completely different sorta ride to the VTR.

Failing that, a 750 K6 is pretty good I've heard.

I went from a VFR to a Speed Triple. It's just SO different that I doubt I'll get tired of it for a long, long time. I think I may have been a bit bored with the Honda but didn't know it until I made a change.
Cheers

I dont mean to highjack your thread, Bulldog (maybe you guys could just send me a PM) but what is this induction howl everyone talks about? and which bikes sound the beast?

why not just scratch your feet then? (sorry)

awesker - 'induction howl' is when you can hear the bike sucking the air in through the airbox... come over sometime and i'll show you on the FZR

That's an even better pick up line than "Wanna come to my house and see my puppies?"
