What can I say. He must have a lot of time to build one of a kind bikes...

...and then burn them

So how is his court case going? After he was driving drunk passing on double yellows and mowed down and killed some guy on a moped.

LOL...

How many people these days drive intoxicated?

I think he was unlucky in being famous and not being on a bike.

I am sure the American Public will support him, after all he is a "HERO" just like Mr Bush...

the US bike magazines dont see the funny side of Billy killing that dude.

Did the dude with the short hair and black shirt own the bike (the guy who asked about "refund policy") or was it one of Mr Lane's?

and no one in the US seems to carry a fire extinguisher in their cars, or be willing to stop and try to use it.....

If He killed someone, He should do the time... Even if he's some kind of ‘Hero’ in the States. Bit of a bummer about the bike, did you see the bitchin’ rear wheel assembly? It's hub less!!!

Anyone notice that the bike seems to have a very radical rear end? Haven't watched the whole vid, but it LOOKS like the back wheel doesn't have a hub. The bearings etc seem to be on the rim.

EDIT: I see Twig twigged first

have a look at Billy Lane's own site - it talks a bit about his hubless design ... its his patent I believe....

I think he was gutted really. He may have a lot of money, but it takes time to build those things.

Thanks for the link. I had a stooge around, I'm not into choppers but my gawd, the bikes this guy builds are works of art! Makes the stuff Orange county do on PrimeTV look pretty ordinary.

The hubless rear definitely seems complicated, IMHO technically I'd say it does nothing to actually advance motorcycle design- all the weight is concentrated at the rim, the rim needs to be heavier etc etc- but in terms of making a work of art, and a technical talking point, its sheer brilliance. I've attached some pics.

Thanks for the pics TonyB,
Yep, I'd agree that it's clever and innovative - but of no real technical benefit. It's a good topic for conversation and debate though!
