Just having a bit of a vent cause I'm pissed off to the extreme right now.

Ok, so I stayed at my partners parents' place last night and her dad decided he needed to move my bike, so instead of getting me out of bed to move it myself he decided to drop it on the steps of their deck leaving a nice big dent in the side of my fuel tank...

...arrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This really helps my plan to sell the bike in a couple of months time. Anyway, her olds have offered to pay to fix it, but the trouble is: is it actually possible to remove a sizeable dent from a fuel tank as you cant exactly get inside and push it out.

Bugger mate that sucks.

I think they weld a wire to the tank and pull the dent out.

who cares if it's possible if they're paying for it? if it's not then they can buy you a whole new tank.

Yes it's possible. Had that done to my FXR after some clown backed into it and knocked it off it's stand a couple of weeks before I was going to sell it. About $400 I think it cost.

Whats your point Boomer? It's still my most valuable asset.

Don't be too angry at the old guy. He thought he was doing you a favour by not hauling you out of bed. He had no way of knowing how you would react to an early morning door knock for what should have been a simple 2 min job. It might be your most valuable asset, but you will likely have upgraded in a few years (I'm being presumptuous now), but if things go well, you won't have done the same to your partner and so will still have the same in laws to be polite to.

Depending on the size of the dent you maybe able to use compressed air to pop it out. I tried it a few years back on a teardrop tank which had a largish but shallow dent which did the job.

Hmmm...I'm fingerin' some fireworks thinkin' droppin' one in the tank would be the go.....might not work, but hell can I watch??:gob:

Aww bummer. That would have really annoyed me. I always feel that when it comes to your prized asset (bike/car) it needs to be yourself that does the honours when it comes to damaging it - not someone else

..if he manages to drop an FXR 150, he must be about 85 is he?

Anyway - dont be a miserable cunt, take it on the chin and pay for it yourself.
