View Full Version : Gained weight over Christmas?

I did, what about you?
Did the old weigh in a week before Christmas and again last night. Seems that I've put on two kg from all of the food consumed. After all, what's Christmas day like if you don't have three meals - right! Well yours truly only ate two but the second meal started at 10am and finished at 5pm - think that makes up for skipping the third meal (Boxing day also had only two)
As they say, :whocares: , I've got more chocolate cookies to eat and chocolate self-sauce pudding to consume (failed miserably to eat the whole tub after eating some pizza before hand) ...
At least my weight loss in the lead up to Christmas leaves my weight nicely in the balance
so there's no need for me to panic :Punk: The power to weight ratio on the FXR hasn't be damaged.

That is only just short of a pound or 3,500 calories so not a major plus depends whether you used same scales, time of day, water drunk etc etc.

Nup, you converted wrong way, it's about 4lbs instead.

Going to be gaining weight. Among the stuff I got for Christmas there's a box that holds 5 A4 reams of paper overflowing with home made biscuits. I think there's only 2 packets of Scorched Almonds, no idea how much chocolate and lollies, a bottle of Port, bottle of Wine and bottle of Vodka. My doctor is going to cry.

Whoops, bugger, you are right.................in that case he would have had to eaten 16,000 extra calories which is an awful lot............

Luckily, we have no scales at home, but I'm SURE I've gained some. Eight days or so in the US is not conducive to staying slim, as all the food is SO high in calories and the portions so huge.

I was 86kg before Xmas and without weighing myself I knew I'd put on a bit so I've been good for the last week (Haven't touched any of the chocolate stuff I was given ... I let everyone else eat it). I feel about right again now but I will weigh myself to confirm sometime.

Okay...I weighed 98.6kg before Christmas and still weigh the same.........and I ate lots of mince pies and had 2 Christmas Day dinners.............so me wonders how accurate scales people have used are and if they have used same scales.........cause Disco 1/2 a stone extra is a lot of extra eating man

Very true though I try to keep those variables to a minimum and always use the same scales on the bathroom lino floor. Can feel that I've gained some weight.

Hahahahahaha, even the yanks are ditching imperial sizing...
I just hadn't heard anyone refer to a weight in 'stone' for about 10 years or more...hahaha, but fair enough I guess...

Imperial sizing is surprisingly common though.... ....how bigs ya willy? 3" ? hahahah! The most common unit for measuring it!
Usually only old fogeys that still use imperial weights and measures.. ..and some stubborn English!

Throw the scales out I reakon. According to standard BMI some female and male bodybuilders can be classed as obese if they go by their bathroom scales - its all muscle.
Clothes are your best indicator

No net weight gain over Christmas week. Ended the year at 110 kgs (down from 124 start 2006) This year I'm shedding 20kgs. Biggest problem Christmas week was alcohol......drinking 2 or 3 cases of beer in a week instead of 2 or 3 beers a week.
Looking forward to the dryer warmer weather and having an easier time through the twisties without having to respring my suspension.

I prefer to consider weight gain in terms of percentages. That way, the fatter you get, the slower the rate of fatness increase!

Two months ago I was 92kg.
I weighed myself this morning. 103. Goddamn motherfucking Ernest Adams fruit mince pies.
My Le Race (http://www.lerace.co.nz/) entry should provide some appropriate fat loss motivation, though. Gulp. I don't want to have to race in the 'Clydesdale' class.

Short? Well... I'm 175cm, which isn't exactly Masai-like, I suppose.
I don't have *that* much fat to lose, though; the best shape I've ever been in was at 86kg and 9% bodyfat. Based on past performance, dropping 10kg over the next 3 months should see me finishing Le Race < 4:00. Hopefully.

Weighed this morning and I am down to 105kg.
Height is 188cm, so still a bit of a fat bugger.....
A year ago I was 158kg, had a gastric bypass op....... best thing that could have happened to me, even though I still eat 4 tablespoons of food and then I am FULL! hehehehe, cheap date for dinner too!
Take care out there

I did Le Race last March, great event, hope you have done plenty of hill training, the climbs go on and on and on, 4 minutes down the main street and its straight into the first climb.I loved the event, the last downhill into Akaroa is a blast, 80kph, woohooo.
I did it in 3 hours 8min, I have a lot less weight than you to drag up the hills.

Well, you don't have to give your actual weight :dodge: , that's probably confidential information. We're just interested in the variation due to Christmas since your last weigh in  :innocent: I didn't post how much I weigh, just that it's 2kg more than before Christmas  but I did go on a diet before hand in preparation

I do not come from Planet Indy where
80's music and movies reign supreme- perhaps I missed something ?
I didn't see one fat person in it. I never saw any chrissy puds, bottles
of champers (oh actually maybe I did...), chrissy hams, mince pies, bathroom scales. I
did however see lots of bags of money......lots of it and a lady at the end having a relaxing cigarette...

ROFL. Quite. Even in my dreams, I'm more of a McEwen than a Rasmussen.
Actually, at 102kg, I'm not even much of a McEwen. Butterbean on a Bicycle, perhaps? I'll be content if I just weigh less than Scotty Brown on race day. Hills are not my thing. I'm doing Le Race out of pure masochism, and to get a minor psychological edge over Mr Skid when we go toe to toe at K2 in October. [Edit: And because it's on my birthday, of course.]
I used to have a pretty decent powerlifting total, but I've swapped to the bike as being more likely to keep me alive for a long time. The years and cholesterol levels march on...

Enjoy, the suffering, the satisfaction is the same for everyone know matter what time it takes,
.....yu gotta catch me before yu can crush me,
and on a treddle bike thats not going to happen ! cept since I"ve got my motorbike the cycling is taking a back seat, but I will always keep it going to some extent, just not training like I used to.The older yu get the more yu realise how important it is to stay active, for both mind and body.
At more than 45 + kilos less than you I've got a distinct advantage going uphill and I love riding up hills for some strange reason.

Well, my weight loss progress has been zero kg :nono:
Just days after starting this thread, a fellow worker returned from holidays sick. I caught this cold and that put an end to my cycling & diet plans. Reverted back to my "see" food diet and rode the motorcycle every day! (that's one of the best things about being sick :) ). Riding the bike allows me to avoid being exposed to cold air which historically has made me get sicker or relapse.
Now that I've shaken it, I'd better get back into the programme :weep:
