ok i searched didnt see any matches, so sorry if this is a recent repost :P
the world record holder *was* japan's HKS R33 skyline
that ran a 7.6 1/4 mile
some may recognise this car from Granturismo 2, a green/purple/black car...
the world record was beaten by Reece Magregor from New Zealand (WOOT!!!)
in his R32 GTR Heat Treatments skyline which ran a 7.57 1/4 mile @ 305.96 kms
making him the fastest EVER 4wd 1/4 mile skyline in the world
this car can make up to 1600hp but is down-tuned for driveability
i have been lucky enough to see him drag on sevral occasions,,,at night wars and imports vs v8's
clip: HKS Japan - 7.9 older time (7.6 was record)

[Edit:] Just out of curiousity, is there a seperate skyline class? Why? How does it stack up against other modified production cars?

Bikes are fast... goes hand in hand with fast cars (yes they do exist...). You won't feel so hot shit on a 600 one day when some real 'rice' goes past you

Torque controller. We have a similar setup in our drag GTR, allows you to change drive ratio between front and rear diffs. Reeces setup will probably be different to ours, our one will probably only run 1200hp.

The bit of, um track, that we have talked about is pretty narrow. Last time we were out in another that was only putting 650hp to the wheels it wouldn't stay in a straight line in the first two gears, so I think I'll let him do a couple of dummy runs first just to see how it tracks. Mind you this one is on DOT slick/road tyres, hopefully it will hook up better. Engine alone will be good for 1000hp in current trim, add the nos in and it should be putting down 1200hp.

Flat 11 in 2wd mode with the rear bags still spinning with a terminal speed around 130mph! And the motor was not tuned either, well only enough to run, not seek the big numbers. Now the engine has been dry sumped and sorted, and if he remembers to put it in 4wd mode I'd hate to go up against it. Well no I wouldn't hate it, but I think I already know the result.

Meh...slow bloody cages. You should all see my 20A tripple port mini cooper running 4wd with direct port now injection and a turbo the size of my head and also a type r sticker.
Seriously, good on reece, though the R32 is not my favourite, i much prefer the R34, however you cannot help but respect a 17/18 year old design that is still so competative.
You would need to throw a helluva lot of money at a bike to achieve a 7.5 sec quarter i would think.

I think he's meaning air density, i.e. whether at sea level or in the hills. It plays a big part in how a drag car performs.

Don't laugh (although it may have been a made up excuse) as I had an experience in the F100 where the floats were set too low.
Could cruise all day no problems, it accelerated normally on the street, it started o.k BUT when it was in 'full noise' for more the 8-10 seconds it died just like it had run out of fuel. (which in effect it HAD).
