Wanted to say hi to everyone as I am a newbie :D

I just completed my learners licence today (yay!). I have been riding around on a PGO Comet 50cc :scooter: and just needed something more stable, bigger and faster!!! So my hubby bid on an 87 TZR250T on trademe and before I knew it I was being bugged to get my licence :P

He then went on to bid on an 87 GPZ750R for himself!!! Which is good, we can go on rides together.

My bike is in bits, we painted it black and silver hammerite and it looks sexy as compared to what it looked like when we bought it (will post before and after pics once it's back together). Hopefully it'll have a WOF by the end of this week, I'm itching to hop on!!!

Anyone else from the Top of the South? Every ride etc seems to be everywhere else but :(

Welcome to the site PoisonIvy. There was a Kiwibiker party in Nelson last Christmas, so there must be a few around there!

I lived in Nelson for a couple of years. Quite a nice place.

Welcome PI.

Enjoy your new bike. You'll have to show us the lines over Takaka Hill sometime - I hear it's pretty good riding thereabouts...

Welcome to the loony bin Ivy... remember keep your hands in the vehicle at all times and don't feed the inmates, it only encourages them....

Nice bike BTW!

Welcome to where madness is a fashion accessory...

Plenty of us in the South Island, you'll find that loads of us end up quite some distance from home just for the hell of it, so if you play your cards right you might just be able to meet up with someone. I've always wanted to ride the Motueka Valley Highway, have driven it many times but never ridden it. Trouble is with being in Christchurch is that the port hills and Akaroa are so close and so good... the biggest motorbike playground in New Zealand (arguably) and right at our back door.

Always good to have more ladies joining the site too... shows that riding a motorbike isn't restricted to just us guys! If you remember one thing from this, remember this: ride as though everyone on the road is out there to kill you, because most of them pretty much are. In saying that, ride safe, have fun! :scooter:

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Finally got a warrant and rego on my bike today so I have been riding it around for the first time today. I did stall it a bit but hubby tweaking the idle helped with that (it was stalling with the clutch in!) :gob: Once I had 1st sorted out I was away!!! Fun fun fun!

Here are some pics ..... check out the crusty piece of crap it was when we bought it (check out the hideous front guard!).

Now it is a sexy silver beastie .... best of all, my riding gear is all colour co-ordinated now

Okay so it was my hubby who painted most of it!! Haha!

I love riding it, my wrists and hands are a bit sore but I'll get used to it. MUCH more fun than a scooter!!! :Punk:

Maybe I'll try a 100km zone tomorrow

so i'm guessing you haven't had the tzr in the power band yet? maybe best to wait a while before you properly open it up, that is a very quick first bike!

Actually my hubby asked me if I had yet .... I had been taking his advice and revving the crap out of it before changing gears but not too sure yet :)

I'll take it out on open road today hopefully and then we'll see!

Hi PI...

May I suggest if you want some advice, having a yarn with Jen, MYGSXF, she's done a few riding courses recently, plus she'll have the good 'ol ladies point of view, lol...

At a guess, your bikes powerband should be between 6000 and 9500 rpm-ish... It's also worth adding, your bike definately looks way cooler now...

And welcome to KB...
