Same here, a mate sent it to me and I was thinking "what on earth could be gained from doing experiments like this on spiders?"

But it appears it may be one of those dreaded reposts from last year - http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=23693&highlight=spider - I found it when checking to see if anyone else had posted this yet. Different website but along the same lines.
