What do you guys use?

I've been using Motul 800 which I've got no complaints about, but it is expensive. Total Motox is selling a putoline one for $22 per litre which the guy told me will run at 50:1 with no problems. a 4 litre is about $69 so it's alot cheaper. My flatmate uses Castrol TTS and still thinks its the best value for money.

Oh and while we are on teh topic of oils, what do you use for your chain? What is the best for an Oring one?

All the top oils are pretty damn good and there is not much between them, until you get into the castor blends. It just depends on what you can find cheapest in your area.TTS is often found in Repco,so it's always easy to find, which is a plus.I've been using Silkolene Comp 2,but Fuchs no longer bring Silkolene into NZ,so I'll be looking for something else myself soon.

silkolene is still avalible in NZ, most bike shops will be able to get it,

i run ELF 2XT in my 2 strokes at 40:1 ,which is $70 for 4 litres, its good syntehtic and we have run it for years with no problems,

always found TTS was a bit hard on powervalves (gumming up) but that was on earlier KX's with drum type powervalves

Most of us guys with 125's use shell advance. Firstly cause its good stuff and secondly because its pretty fairly priced, paying about $18 a litre iirc.

Ive been using the putoline at 40:1 with no problems at all. Previously used Motul but because of the $$$ changed.
From what I've heard thats not alot of difference between all the top brands as (Motu) previously stated, they all perform well.

I deal with Fuchs themselves (well, through BNT,but Fuchs deliver to me direct,I sometimes get bulk pumpovers) and so get it at wholesale prices.I have a trade account with Castrol too,I'll be getting TTS in a 20 litre if I have to.

Was at Kimmys today, it was wicked fun!
Just did my 02 200EXC engine, bottom and top. Yeah I know its been along time to wait to do a top end, but those Elko topends last almost forever.
Anyway have always used Motul 800 until recently when I switched to Motorex. Inside the engine was very very clean, with only a little carbon on the power valve flapper. The power valve mech was clean, not gummed up, the head only needed a wipe with a rag, and I think I'm going to stick with the Motul 800. Shame its so expensive.

Well im usingSpectro PWC costs 100 bucks for 4 litres but is top stuff never had any complaints,When I rebuilt engine the 2 stroke oil was nicely inside every bearing and isnt too oily that its hard to premix.

I had to run Motul 800TT the other day and it was good no complaints either but it smoked alot more and didnt like to mix with Av Gas to well

The spectro PWC mixes at 30:1

Another tick for Catrol TTS. Mainly choose it because that's what the previous owner had been using and didn't want to mix oils. As all the oil is now drained I could theoritically change, except I've got about 3 litres remaining of the 4 litre that I bought.

I two use to use Motul 800 as it seemed to clean the motor and burn clean.
Maybe Ivan thats why your bike was smoking when you used it the first time, it may get better after a tank or two.
I was in a hurry once to change the piston the night before a MX race and did not clean the power valves that good.
The next time I changed the piston the power valves were clean as clean could be.

Now the only down side I have heard is that some oils now are hygroscopic.
So it may pay to only mix what you are going to use and start the bike and run it until warm after washing it.
As I have heard of a few big-ends going if you do not do this.
It is a good practise to do this any way and I would not go as far as to say throw away the old premix like we use to.

I've found the best oil companies to deal with are the small ones, they are actualy trying to get your business, the big companies seem to actively discourage sales.Fuchs is kinda halfway, they are huge in Europe, but small everywhere else, and Silkolene is just a niche market they have as a sideline. But they have that same ''who the hell are you?'' attitude of the big companies. If you don't shift 10,000 litres a month they don't want your business.

Yeah my spectro oil burns real nice cleans everything internally you wouldnt know the engine had been running if you take the head off and the barrel of no carbon deposists and is nice burning I have run Motul in my road bike no compalints but when AV gas is involved it burns alot different.
I remember RG100!!running it and saying his bike smoked alot, its good oil tho dont get me wrong.

I am running Mobilin my RG50 as well cause its cheap
