As reported on Visordown...

IT'S AMAZING how a superbike lifestyle gives you a tolerance and appreciation of speed, an immunity to its death-bearing consequences, even. Recently, Merseyside police chased a biker on the M57 doing, and we quote, "frightening" speeds on his Suzuki Hayabusa. The rider in question, Andrew Broadway was 'flying' past a police car at 135mph. Is now a good time to remind you that Kawasaki's ZX-10R can do over 100mph in 1st gear? Probably not.

Officers chased and when Broadway heard their sirens, he decided to test the 'Busa's capability - except we're not sure he really did - and with the police still in pursuit, the 38-year-old crossed three lanes of motorway to take the slip road, where he passed a give way sign at 100mph before coming to a stop.

This sounds like a familiar tale, especially when you're cruising along the motorway with the engine purring away at six-thousand revs, the speedo reading over 100mph and then you realise you're about to shoot past a 'Moto Services' and you really need to answer the call of nature.

If Broadway had really tested the capabilities of his bike, we fear the policemen chasing would have witnessed the Hayabusa disappear faster than a tray of donuts at a Monday morning Police meeting.

"I was flabbergasted at the speed he was going," PC Peter Davenport told the jury.

"I told him he could have died and killed somebody else and he was very apologetic."

Broadway denies dangerous driving (surely riding?) and the case continues.

Can only have been in first gear...:nono:

Nigel Mansell bought a new Aston Martin a few years ago and got done for speeding. He was a quite a bit over 100mph too. The Police tried to charge him with dangerous driving as well as speeding - the judge said he was sure Mansell was in complete control of the vehicle at all times and that no one was in any danger and told the cops to hush.

Yup - if the fella had wanted to Gap it I'm sure he would have been long gone before they could get a bird in the air.

got the wheelie record on his naked bus for the swedish wheelie team.
gr2 at times seems slightly different riding in one clip but all the rest seem the same. it could be different riders occasionally but i highly doubt it being 6 different guys like shietsters say considering patrik is seen at many motorcycling events regularly. and has identical mannerisms and posture...

I can recall when cops would chase you in a no quarters asked go.As an idiot who has listened to the police for years Your chances of getting away today are better than they were,If eagles up head for a carpark and if you go fast enough the cops will be told to abandon.I have a 50% record and I have known guys with better ones but some of them might be dead.Toss a coin when u do a runner.

There's a legend of UK Police pulling someone over ... quite a few years ago now:

"Who do you think you are, Nigel Mansell?"
"No, I am Ayrton Senna."

Hope it's true.

Well guys you could be right about Ghost Rider.

Who cares!.... his DVD's are great fun to watch and the snow mobile outside the cop station is hilarious.

Even better when you see the Suzuki doing 199km ph and Ghost Rider comes past on the Busa, on the back wheel only.

Damn what a buzz!

I've been over 150mph on the Autobahn ,and not just a quick burst either - and no one stopped me to tell me it was dangerous ...

Seemed safe enough to me ...
