This one is not to far away now.
At this stage I am deff' for going, a couple of people from me work are keen on coming to, and currently toying with heading down Friday after lunch.
This will be my first time to this one, and looking forward to it I think.
A bit to early to make precise plans, but I guess in the mean time from here until closer to the date, there is time to go off topic, around and about and back on topic again. :shit:
Roll on :scooter: rally time again.
fingers crossed for :sunny: .

Of course Mrs S and I will be there, be interesting to see how it stacks up to previous years given that its at a different location.
How about getting there via Omarama, Otematata, and Kurow? Did it last year and it was a great ride.

Entry number 05, ready and willing. 2006 20th M/Hare was the best and biggest SI rally (disregarding 10th Monkey) I'd ever been to! Its a must do in my book. Back the new organisers and "pre pay" now!!!

This rally sounds like a must do for me too. We need to have a get together of KB'rs from around Dunedin - theres quite a few new members - and it would be good if we could do this before this rally. Doesn't need to be anything big, maybe a ride to a country pub or cafe or something. You keen XKnuts? I'll put a new post up and see what happens.
Hopefully then we'll have a really good group ride to the March Hare. (Oh if anyone wants the DVD on group riding produced by ACC then send me a PM with your post details and I'll send it on. Its worth a look, especially if you haven't done any/much group riding and even if you have its a good refresher to make sure you've got your bad habits under control!!)

 Hey dudes and dudess's
Triumphant Vincent is over, got some sleep done on the Monday night as I stopped to tidy up, and now tingling with excitement over the March Hare Rally. It literally blew my mind last year, as it was the thrid rally I did, Glenorchy being the 1st, Woodstock the 2nd, and getting to the March Hare, was massive for me, all those folk, felt like I was back in the UK, and what an ultra cool rally.
I shall be looking forward to catching up with most of the people of this thread!! (read into that what you want!!) :bleh: Har Har, and dancing the light fandango on the dancefloor.
Scumdog,:msn-wink: I'm practising the slow ride, so you had better be good, me and Tex (my beatutiful bonny), are as one when we's a riding slow, like their aint not tommorow, the bike just rides itself, so oil up your trusty stead Scummy, as I hearby lay down the challenge to take you on.
Cant wait to sup some  and partaking in the tatoo competition:moon:
So coi 4 now, and LETS GET READY TO PAAAAAAAAAAAARTY

Hmmmm I'm guna have to get a bit more prepared me thinks. Gotta find out about these earlier and come for a ride down south. Getting a real hankering to come back to South Island for a few days with the bike.
Def doing Brass Monkey, but don't know if I can wait that long...AAHHH:pinch:
By the way, north island has nothing on the South Island- South is way better in every way!!! Although I have only done one ride down to Timaru to visit family over Xmas and up the Waitaki Lakes for New Years (only got licence when I moved up here and started earning- poor Dunedin student before that :Punk: ), but I'm sure riding is still better down there...mmm mountain passes

Another one would mean that there was a previous oil leak  It was fixed, as I know this one will be to. The only real concern is being out of the swing arm, which being close to the wheel is not cool. The last leak was back at the KB rally (I took right hand corners with caution, with oil on tyre)

I can understand the cost as it does add up after a while which is why I don't add it up. Doesn't help when you have a hell of a long way to go either.

Is there a lack of decent organised rallies in the NI?
Seems to be that way but there's three NI that I can think of:
- Cold Kiwi (Waiouru) in September
- Cold Duck (Hawkes Bay) in May
- Sulphur City (Rotorua) though I don't think this is a rally in our sense of the word
Cold Kiwi might be worth a blast up north but its the same month as the Little River up here in Chch and the Pissed Penguin down scumdog's and ruralman's way.

thats about the only ones I know too... The cold kiwi isn't too bad... I have done it twice back in errrr 1990 and 94. Don't know what its like now though... I don't know if the Wairoa rally is still going... I only ever did the first one...

I'm just thinking about it at the moment.
But I may do a day trip there and back to have a look at the new site.
May go down the middle early in the morning and home up the coast at night.
Travel light and quick-ish with only a few stops.
Two stops on the way down there, last one to top up the tank and one on the way home.

ok mm anyways... I think we is all finishing work around midday Friday, and gettin sorted, two of us (Bush Basher and me) live Rangiora, and the other (David Charles(inventive user name uh:gob: )) he lives out Oxford, so using the assumption factor will likley head out that way to hook up. Then maybe head down through Geraldine-Farlie-and whichever way (who knows) to get to Waimate and to the site.
David Charles has a enny weeeny tank on he's sporty so has to stop and get gas every two minutes or less.

Jugs always on mate..........you guys let me know if your calling in eh.....Nighthawk......na mate its just a small tent.even if you have no room you guys are welcome to call in.
If I go I will definitely take you up on the coffee etc. I just purchased a luxury bedroom unit to go into my 4 bed holiday home - ie I got a lilo for the tent - Just in case I do go, which I might not, but it did get me thinking about about a ridiculous theme event our KB'r contingent (which MIGHT include me if I go) could have.
Now please don't tell my hard core dirt biker mates about this 'cos they'll think I've gone all soft and cultural - so here goes.
Saturday afternoon upmarket KB picnic challenge - the event will select a scenic location to hold a picnic. All participants will be required to bring a small quantity of something exotic (no NighthawkNZ that doesn't include those girls you had performing at your birthday party!!) to spread on a white tablecloth - bottles of wine, interesting cheeses, olives, smoked salmon ..... fuck I'm no bloody hors doevres expert just use your bloody imagination - smoked eel is nice but possum testicles is probably an acquired taste!!!!
It would be just nice to get out of the crowd for a while and do something else (If I happen to be able to go that is)
OK now theres probably a torrent of sarcastic abuse about to be sent in my direction so I'm going to hunker down ,broaden my shoulders and fend as well as I can. Please if you think this idea has some merit and could be fun post that, if you think its bloody stupid be gentle with me!!

I may do a day trip there and back in a day to have a look at the new site.I wouldn't get too exited, it's just the A&P showgrounds ...and ... I heard a rumour that this site is just a temporary measure for this year only. "Apparently" the pub at the original site (Waihao Forks) has a new owner and both the new pub owner and the new rally organisers are keen for the rally to return to it's original site and are working towards this. It could all be bullshit of course.
I can TXT Mr S and Far Queue when I get close or at Omarama. I hope to be there somewhere between 10 and 12 O'ClockI should be returning to life by then.

Do I bring some steaks and eat with you??? - you can have a small piece to pay for the gas!!!!!
Hey 98TLS how about sending me and NHawk a PM with contact details for this tent of yours - we'll be coming in along the coast via the historic precinct unless it is better to rejoin the highway at the Weston turn off and come in that way. Send you mobile no as well. We might as well get this tent village semi sorted on Friday night (if I'm coming!!)

He ha dude, I was up at Woodstock today, and showed the wife and kids the site etc, pretty blah without all the action, and she was suprised at where you had planted yourself under that tree.
I was hoping to take a drive up round the lake, but the wee boy was looking a bit white after going about all those hills from the Glaciers.
Bring on the Rally:Punk:
