View Full Version : Double Posting & the FAQ

Just curious about this. Net ettiquite says double posting is a no-no, but it happens quite freqently on this site, some members regularly double- and triple posting. I've always thought double posting was frowned upon (although a minor offence), so I've always tried not to do it. Quite often I'll edit one of my posts when I've missed something out, or just to clarify it a bit. Hell, it says you shouldn't in the FAQ. Does anyone bother to read the FAQ when they join this site? Probably not... :oi-grr:

Still, just wondering what the mods (or anyone else for that matter) opinions of this is? Here's a thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=36512&page=3) it happens in a couple of times, though admittedly it's not a bad thread for it. I've seen much worse. Just an example, not wanting to single out the offender in this case.

Oh, and speaking of the FAQ... it only has two motorbike terms listed. There are hundreds more that could be on there. Some I wondered about for ages when I was quite new on KB before it finally became clear to me. Maybe some of us could write up some definitions and submit them for adding to the FAQ? Everyone harps on here about "doing a search" about things, but the FAQ could be used more too - it's an under utilised tool IMO.

submit anything to mental trousers, or there is a FAQ thread under site stuff, iirc. I helped write some of the FAQ, can't remember what tho :D

no... no-one probably reads the FAQ... but they do quickly learn to run searches before posting something ;)

edit: FAQ here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=305&highlight=FAQ)

Had a few things in mind, just for the newbie or someone who isn't very knowledgeable about bikes...

Stoppie

Wheelie (okay, most people know what a wheelie is)

Roll on

Clutching it up

12 o'clock

"Naked" bike

Getting your knee down

Highside / Lowside

Head shake

...etc etc, could go on quite a while just with biker terms.

Oh, and for the record, I've pretty much read all of the FAQ. :bleh:

Working on that. Building a Kiwibiker Wiki at the moment. A FAQ should be about using the site. The WIKI will cover that stuff.

Ah, a KB Wiki, excellent idea. Bikeypedia.

Seems like you're already on top of it, but if you'd like any assistance I'm happy to help out. Just let me know. :)
