im no two stroke expert, you should pm f5dave
looks to me like the marks on the top of the piston is detonation/lean & the side are lack of lubrication/lean mixture

Thanks bistard, but my question was retorical - I know why the scoot doesn't go - the fucking piston exploded....

Now for some go-faster bits.....

Colapop

...like a 250 motor?

Now where is the challenge in that...?

Next you will be suggesting 4 stroke or such like

Colapop

so by "go faster bits" you really mean "bits that go.."

Your tyre pressures are too low. Sorted.

Geez those pictures don't do it justice! To interpret the crappy cameraphone piccies for everyone else, what you see mashed between the piston and head is the piston skirt.

Was that a standard motor?

Standard motor. Motor explodes. Supplier has some responsibility. Even if its just good faith like giving you the parts at a cheep price.

Wouldnt you be kinda make if you brought a new holden and after the warranty runs out the motor explodes? and instead of say $800 your looking at an excess of $8000? Same diffrence.

That's what warranty means Googie, once it expires, you're on your own. You might have a case if it happened maybe a week afterwards but several months, an aftermarket exhaust and a re-jet of the carb later?

Fairlie might get a bit of sympathy discount from Retroscooter, but LML coughing up? No chance.

I am well awear of what a warranty is and how it works. The motor fucking exploded.

Can you see the slight imperfection resulting in the failure...

However you will all be happy to know that I am back on the road with a nice Malossi 166 kit, Muzzuchelli full circle crank, T5 carb, and Euro bearings.
