I have noticed in on the last few rides that while cornering (hard or otherwise :blip: ) that the Front seems a tad 'Bouncey'/Jittery (sp) so did a search on Suspension and found a great post from HDTboy.

Question?....if the Rear Damping/Spring pre Load was set at standard ,and im riding 2up, would that effect the front while cornering?
The front Pre-Load is set 5mm...standard is 10mm, so thats seems right
The Standard Rear settings are...Spring pre Load = 12 turns...Rebound Damping 1.5 turns
2up settings for rear are....Spring pre Load = 6 turns...Rebound Damping 1 turn.
I havent checked the rear at all yet so back to the first question, would it effect cornering the front while cornering?

I measured the front adjuster and they are set at 5mm.....
PS: The most notible feeling is...Front end instability when encountering mid corner surface irregularities

You need professional help.
Ok, now to your suspension - seriously - my advice is to get professional help, Shaun Harris or Robert Taylor are both bloody good. I have always just called Robert Taylor if I have a curly one and bounced it off of him.

I have tweaked a few bikes here using guides commonly available. Then just added a bit of trial and error. Provided you record your settings you can always go back if you don't like it.

I would certainly up the rear preload as a first step. The rear is going to be more important to get right than the front when 2 up. You can always wind it back if you no like.
Also the Ohlins manual suggests increasing both the rebound and compression damping if 2up. I find that makes a hell of a difference to the X11 in that state. I just increase both one click.

So at 5mm you've stiffened the front end up from 10 mm is that what you're saying the preload adjuster has been screwed down a further 5 mm. Unless you are a fat prick why not try the front on standard and then see what its like? Two up usually means you need stiffer preload and damping on the rear and the one I always harp on about - check your tyre pressures and if necessary go up a bit on the back when two up.

Actually, best thing you could do is loose the pillion - she's slowing you down.

To Cut a long story short ( Please do not take offence) The suspension on that model Triumph is Crap, the front forks are as bad as an SV650, and the rear spring is far to soft.

You really need a furmer rear spring, and a kit inside the front forks to give you some Re bound control! The way to cheat the front problem is, Go buy some 20# fork oil and throw that in, you will instantly notice the difference.

I had the same with my front end and just increased pre-load by a 1/4 of a turn and the front now feels well planted................but it could be that when you pull those wheel stands you don't realise that Mrs M has fallen off and this alters the handling...well until Mrs M sprints and jumps back on....

Take a bit to offend me Shaun and your comments are duly notied, i will look into a furmer rear spring and sort out the front, safety is paramount for so many reasons.......Cheers

I tried that site, rear worked but ended up almost going back to original front settings and the tweaking................but still useful as the preload is almost the same.

I'm not so sure you desperately need professional help with your suspension settings. At least, not until you've exhaust playing about with them yourself... you can't break it, so long as you note your starting points, you can always go back.

If even a nana like me can feel the difference in half a turn on the rebound adjusters, anyone can!

Once you've got it where you want it, sweet! If you can't get it where you want it, at least you'll be able to give the pro a bit more experienced feedback, hopefully resulting in a better result all round :)

But yeah, fully agree on the tyres... if they're not properly inflated, you're wasting your time
