View Full Version : Spare helmet... GF wants a ride...

I know, helmets shouldn't be brought second hand citing safety concerns etc. However, my girlfriend would like a wee go on the back of the bike* to see what it's like. She likes the idea of heading over to Akaroa or elsewhere when the weather/mood takes us. But, being broke, (and mildly sensible) I am not buying a new helmet on the off chance she'll like it

So, as you've already guessed by now, I'm on the prowl to borrow a spare helmet. If any Christchurch KB'ers have a spare small'ish helmet sitting around, (I don't want to use anything being relied upon for obvious reasons) would you let me borrow it for a few hours one weekend/weeknight please? Alternatively, if you have an old, (but safe) one I could take off your hands as a tester that would work too. With a view of getting a new one should she like it on the back of the bike :scooter:

She's quite scathing of my 1989 Mazda 323, it lacks power, falling to bits, etc. It's the inverse of what's sitting the garage now and I'd like to show her that :Punk:

Any/all offers much appreciated, and obviously I'll hook you up with something for your troubles.

Thank you, Aaron.

*Yes, I'm well aware of the reputation for sports bikes being uncomfortable for pillion passengers. She's a wee thing, and I don't foresee a big problem, particulary in the short term.

With due respect, there may be some other models available, who don't have that problem. I think you might want to change something else than the mode of transport. That is, if she's being serious. Mate, if that really is her problem...

Sorry, should have been clearer, she's just joking about the car. And it is a 25 year old 1.6L sedan so I treat it nice and don't race or attempt to acclerate away from intersections at 'great' speed.

The car will remain the primary mode of transport, it's just more practical for the two of us. Makes a change, when it was just me the car would go unused for weeks.

I've got an old fullface helmet you can have for the cost of postage if you want it. Might be a bit on the big side though as it would be med/large.
